New near-infrared fluorescent probe for imaging superoxide anion of cell membrane.

Selective imaging of superoxide anion is important for understanding its role in cell membrane biology, but is often a challenging task because of the lack of an effective fluorescence probe. In this study, a new near-infrared fluorescent probe (SHX-O) that can target cell membrane was developed for imaging superoxide anion. SHX-O was designed by simultaneously incorporating a sulfonated bis-indole and a diphenylphosphinyl recognition group into the hemicyanine moiety.

Artificial intelligence for the diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer based on multimodal data: a multicenter study.

Background: The introduction of multiparameter MRI and novel biomarkers has greatly improved the prediction of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa). However, decision-making regarding prostate biopsy and prebiopsy examinations is still difficult. We aimed to establish a quick and economic tool to improve the detection of csPCa based on routinely performed clinical examinations through an automated machine learning platform (AutoML).

A novel method for the direct detection of light stabilizer Tinuvin 622 in polymer additives by gel permeation chromatography combined with multi-angle laser light scattering.

Tinuvin 622, an oligomeric light stabilizer, is widely used in plastics to reduce light and heat induced degradation and extend their service life, therefore its detection is of great importance for quality control of plastic products. However, the classical analytical methods of Tinuvin 622, such as chromatography and mass spectrometry, are difficult to achieve direct qualitative and quantitative analysis, and simultaneously to obtain the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution information. Herein, we propose for the first time the combination of gel permeation chromatography with multi-angle laser light scattering as a simple and direct method to detect Tinuvin 622 in polymers and simultaneously to obtain its molecular weight distribution information.

[Determination of hydrazine in prednisolone by derivatization-gas chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry].

Prednisolone is an adrenal glucocorticoid drug with immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and antiviral effects that are widely exploited in clinical treatment. The hydrazine residue to prednisolone directly affects medication safety and threatens the patient's health. At present, there are no relevant laws, regulations, and standards to control the residual limit of hydrazine in drugs at home or abroad.

Myostatin regulates fatty acid desaturation and fat deposition through MEF2C/miR222/SCD5 cascade in pigs.

Myostatin (MSTN), associated with the "double muscling" phenotype, affects muscle growth and fat deposition in animals, whereas how MSTN affects adipogenesis remains to be discovered. Here we show that MSTN can act through the MEF2C/miR222/SCD5 cascade to regulate fatty acid metabolism. We generated MSTN-knockout (KO) cloned Meishan pigs, which exhibits typical double muscling trait.

Selective microextraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons using a hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent composed with an iron oxide-based nanoferrofluid.

A simple and fast method is described for the extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from complex samples. It is based on the use of a nanoferrofluid modified with a ternary hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent. A predictive model was used for the selection of the optimal eutectic mixture.

H- and J-aggregates formed from a nontraditional π-gelator depending on the solvent polarity for the detection of amine vapors.

A tert-butyl carbazole-modified difluoroboron β-diketonate complex (TCbzB) has been synthesized. Although no traditional gelation group was involved in TCbzB, it could form organogels in the mixed solvents of o-dichlorobenzene/cyclohexane (v/v = 1/5 or 1/2), toluene/cyclohexane (v/v = 1/2) and chlorobenzene/cyclohexane (v/v = 1/2). Interestingly, an orange organogel was obtained in o-dichlorobenzene/cyclohexane (v/v = 1/2) with relatively high polarity and red organogels were gained in the other three mixed solvents with relatively low polarity.

Molecular Mechanism of MicroRNA-200c Regulating Transforming Growth Factor-β (TGF-β)/SMAD Family Member 3 (SMAD3) Pathway by Targeting Zinc Finger E-Box Binding Homeobox 1 (ZEB1) in Hypospadias in Rats.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to explore effects of microRNA-200c regulating TGF-β/Smad3 pathway by targeting Zeb1 on the occurrence and development of hypospadias and to evaluate the relationship between microRNA-200c and occurrence of hypospadias. MATERIAL AND METHODS Pregnant rats with a gestational age of 12 days were allocated into 2 groups; one received gavage of DEHP-contained soybean oil (1 ml/day, 8 days; Group A) and the other had gavage of normal soybean oil (1 ml/day, 8 days; Group B). Baby rats with hypospadias from Group A were assigned to the model group (n=20) and healthy baby rats from Group B were assigned to the control group (n=20).

Luminescent organogels based on triphenylamine functionalized β-diketones and their difluoroboron complexes.

A series of new triphenylamine functionalized β-diketones 1–3 and their difluoroboron complexes 1B–3B were synthesized. They exhibited strong intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) emission. It was found that their self-assembling properties depended on the molecular structures.

Strong emissive nanofibers of organogels for the detection of volatile acid vapors.

Two L-phenylalanine derivatives with 5,8-bis(2-(carbazol-3-yl)vinyl)quinoxaline (PCQ) and 5,8-bis[2-(carbazol-3-yl)]-2,3-dimethylquinoxaline (DCQ) as fluorophores were synthesized, and their photophysical properties were measured and compared. The two compounds were found to gelate some organic solvents and self-assemble into 1D nanofibers in gels. The wet gel of PCQ emitted a weak orange fluorescence, but the DCQ gel had a strong green one.

Nanofibers of hydrogen-bonded two-component gel with closely connected p- and n-channels and photoinduced electron transfer.

An D-A-D gelator (DTCQ) was designed and synthesized using 2,3-dimethyl-5,8-di(thiophen-2-yl)quinoxaline and N-alkyl 3-aminocarbazole units as acceptor and donor, respectively, which were linked by a single bond. The compound could gelate several solvents, such as benzyl alcohol, aniline, acetophenone, and o-dichlorobenzene, as well as self-assemble into one-dimensional (1D) nanofibers in gel phase. The absorption and infrared spectra of the gels indicated that π-π interactions between aromatic moieties, intermolecular hydrogen bonds between amide units, and van der Waals forces were the driving forces for the formation of 1D self-assemblies and gel.

Balanced π-π interactions directing the self-assembly of indolocarbazole-based low molecular mass organogelators.

New indolocarbazole derivatives emitting strong blue light have been synthesized. It is found that the strong π–π interactions between indolocarbazoles 4–6 without long carbon chains lead to the formation of crystal or crystal-like aggregates. We have previously found that tert-butyl could tune the strength of π–π interactions between carbazole units and the organogels were obtained from tert-butyl substituted carbazoles directed by balanced π–π interactions.

The potential role of Ku80 in primary central nervous system lymphoma as a prognostic factor.

The aim of our study was to detect the expression of Ku80 in primary central nervous system lymphoma and to evaluate the relationship between Ku80 expression level and clinical outcomes. Thirty-eight patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) were included in this retrospective study. The expression of Ku80 in tumor samples was determined by immunohistochemistry.

Fibrous film of a two-component organogel as a sensor to detect and discriminate organic amines.

A hydrogen bonded complex could self-assemble into one-dimensional fibers in its gel phase. The fibrous film could be used as a sensor to detect and discriminate aromatic and aliphatic amines.

Cranial reconstruction with titanium clamps in frontal comminuted depressed skull fractures.

Objective: Frontal comminuted depressed skull fractures need special attention due to complications and aesthetics. The optimal method of reconstruction and fixation of frontal bone fragments remains a matter of discussion. We explored the advantages of reconstruction of frontal bone with titanium clamps.

Luminescent organic 1D nanomaterials based on bis(β-diketone)carbazole derivatives.

A series of new triphenylamine-functionalized bis(β-diketone)s bridged by a carbazole (CnBDKC, n=1, 4, 8, 16) with twisted intramolecular charge-transfer emission in polar solvents has been synthesized. The length of the carbon chains has a significant effect on the self-assembling properties of the compounds. Well-defined 1D nanowires were easily generated from C1BDKC with a methyl group by a reprecipitation approach directed by π-stacking interaction, and the molecules packed into J-aggregates in the nanowires.

[Urethroplasty with transection of urethral orifice and preservation and lengthening of urethral plate: highly applicable to the treatment of hypospadias].

Objective: To explore the feasibility of urethroplasty with transection of the urethral orifice and preservation and lengthening of the urethral plate in the treatment of hypospadias.

Methods: Forty-eight patients with hypospadias (18 of the coronal type, 21 the penile type, 8 the penoscrotal type and 1 the perineal type) underwent urethroplasty with transection of the urethral orifice and preservation and lengthening of the urethral plate. The surgical effects were observed by following up the patients for 3-27 months.
