Purpose: This research aims to use a data-driven analytical method to compare the effectiveness of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) partial gland ablation with Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RARP) for treating localized prostate cancer, evaluating variations in treatment results.

Methods: We performed a systematic review of the literature, covering key databases including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, with the latest information updated until August 2024. We utilized Stata 18 for data analysis, computing weighted mean differences (WMDs) for continuous data and odds ratios (ORs) for categorical data, with all results reported alongside 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Article Synopsis
  • This study compared two types of surgery for prostate cancer: robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and three-dimensional laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (3D LRP) by reviewing many medical studies.
  • RARP led to much less blood loss during surgery, but both surgery types had similar results in terms of recovery time and other health checks afterward.
  • The overall conclusion is that RARP is better for blood loss, but both surgeries are mostly the same when looking at other important outcomes.

Objective: The influence of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in obese (OB) and non-obese (NOB) prostate cancer patients remains a topic of debate. The objective of this study was to juxtapose the perioperative, functional, and oncologic outcomes of RARP in OB and NOB cohorts.

Materials And Methods: We systematically searched the databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library database to identify relevant studies published in English up to September 2023.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated the impact of cardiovascular disease (CVD) on healthy life expectancy (HLE) in a rural Chinese population, utilizing data from nearly 12,000 participants aged 45 and older.
  • Findings revealed that individuals with CVD had a 71% higher risk of transitioning from health to a state of poor health and a 30% lower chance of recovery compared to those without CVD.
  • The study concluded that CVD significantly reduces HLE, highlighting the need for public health interventions aimed at minimizing the CVD burden to improve overall health outcomes in resource-limited areas.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effects of adjuvant chemotherapy on survival outcomes in patients with lymph node-positive and locally advanced bladder cancer after surgery.
  • A total of 21 studies involving 12,888 patients were analyzed, revealing that those who received adjuvant chemotherapy had significantly better overall and recurrence-free survival compared to those who only had surgery.
  • The findings suggest that patients who undergo cisplatin-based chemotherapy experience better outcomes than those on carboplatin or other regimens, with lymph node density identified as a key predictor for overall survival.

This study aims to compare the perioperative, oncological, and functional outcomes of perineal hydrodissection (HD) with standard treatment (ST) in patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. We performed an exhaustive search in databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, seeking English-language studies relevant to our research question, with a cutoff date of April 2024. The pooled results were assessed using the weighted mean differences (WMDs), standardized mean differences (SMDs), and odds ratios (ORs) metrics.

The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the perioperative outcomes associated with robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RARP) versus open radical prostatectomy (ORP) in the obese population diagnosed with prostate cancer. We performed a comprehensive search in key databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, encompassing studies of all languages, with a final search date of April 2024. We also omitted articles that consisted of conference abstracts and content that was not pertinent to our study.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the effectiveness of cold knife versus laser incisions for treating urethral strictures by analyzing factors like urinary flow rates, surgical time, and recurrence rates over a year.
  • Researchers examined literature from multiple databases, including data from 659 participants across nine experiments, and used Stata for their analysis.
  • Results indicated that laser treatment produced better outcomes than the cold knife method in long-term urinary flow and reduced bleeding, suggesting laser urethral incision might be a superior option for patients with urethral strictures under 2 cm.

To compare perioperative outcomes between Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and robotic-assisted simple pasta-ectomy (RASP)for large-volume benign prostatic hyperplasia(> 80 ml). In August 2023, we undertook a comprehensive search of major global databases including PubMed, Embase, and Google Scholar, focusing solely on articles written in English. Studies that were merely reviews or protocols without any specific published data were omitted.

Both unhealthy lifestyle factors and ambient air pollution have been closely linked with the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). We retrieved 250,898 participants without AF at baseline from UK Biobank. LE8 was determined by 8 metrics, and was characterized as low, moderate and high cardiovascular health (CVH).

Background: The potential cardiovascular adverse events associated with new-generation androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPI) in the treatment of prostate cancer remain unclear. We aimed to assess the pharmacovigilance (PV), reporting rate, severity, and reaction outcomes of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) related to new-generation ARPI for prostate cancer reported to the United States Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).

Methods: We analyzed reports of cardiovascular adverse events associated with drug therapy for prostate cancer submitted to FAERS between January 2014 and December 2022.

Background: The nerve-sparing (NS) effect of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) on patients with a high-risk prostate cancer remains unclear. The objective of this study was to compare the urinary continence, erectile function and oncology outcomes of the nerve-sparing and non-nerve-sparing (NNS) group during RARP surgeries.

Methods: We systematically searched databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science to identify relevant studies published in English up to December 2022.

Article Synopsis
  • * Findings show that the TURP group experienced longer surgery times, longer catheterization, higher blood loss, and a greater need for bladder neck reconstruction, along with a higher rate of positive surgical margins.
  • * Despite these short-term disadvantages, both TURP and Non-TURP patients had similar hospital stays, complication rates, and long-term functional outcomes, indicating that RARP is safe for those with a history of TURP.

Background: Understanding the effects of risk factor burden and genetic predisposition on the long-term risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) is important to improve public health initiatives. However, the 10-year risk of AF considering risk factor burden and genetic predisposition is unknown.

Methods: A total of 348,904 genetically unrelated participants without AF at baseline from the UK were categorized into three groups: index ages 45 years (n = 84,206), 55 years (n=117,520), and 65 years (n=147,178).
