We demonstrate the fabrication of Li-containing ("lithicone") thin films prepared via molecular layer deposition (MLD) using lithium tert-butoxide and ethylene glycol. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals that the stoichiometry of the lithicone is LiCO (H omitted), with C-O-Li moieties present in the film. The bonding environment of lithicone is distinct from that of lithium carbonate or MLD alucone films.

Attempts to classify the mobility levels of people with stroke (PWS) for a tailored exercise program in community settings have been few. We developed and evaluated a classified and tailored community-based (CTC) exercise program according to the mobility level of PWS. Forty-two PWS were classified into the Supine and Sitting, Sitting and Standing, and Standing and Gait groups, based on a newly developed classification model and participated in a group-based CTC exercise program for 1 h/day twice/week for 10 weeks.

Using super-resolution sequencing, we explore the Y Chromosome of (bull) and find it to be dominated by massive, lineage-specific amplification of testis-expressed gene families, making it the most gene-dense Y Chromosome sequenced to date.

Elucidating the polyethyleneimine (PEI) chemistry to predictively and reproducibly synthesize gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-PEI conjugates with desired properties has been elusive despite evaluation in numerous studies and reported enhanced properties. The lack of reproducible methods to control the core size and stability has led to contradictory results for performance and safety; thus, advancement of the conjugate platform for commercial use has likely been hindered. Recently, we reported a robust, reproducible method for synthesizing PEI-functionalized AuNPs (Au-PEIs), providing an opportunity to investigate structure-function relationships and to further investigate synthesis parameters affecting performance, where only materials stable in biological media are candidates for use.

Feature Analysis of Smart Shoe Sensors for Classification of Gait Patterns.

This study compares prosodic structural effects on nasal (N) duration and coarticulatory vowel (V) nasalization in NV (Nasal-Vowel) and CVN (Consonant-Vowel-Nasal) sequences in Mandarin Chinese with those found in English and Korean. Focus-induced prominence effects show cross-linguistically applicable coarticulatory resistance that enhances the vowel's phonological features. Boundary effects on the initial NV reduced N's nasality without having a robust effect on V-nasalization, whose direction is comparable to that in English and Korean.
