Introduction: Migraine is a common disabling primary headache disorder characterized by attacks of severe pain, sometimes accompanied by symptoms including nausea and photo-/phono-phobia. Real-world data of patients with migraine who sufficiently (responders) and insufficiently (insufficient responders) respond to acute treatment (AT) are limited in China. This analysis explored whether responders to AT differ from insufficient responders in terms of clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and patient-reported outcomes in China.

  • Opioids are commonly prescribed for osteoarthritis pain, but their use has been recommended to be limited due to low benefits and potential risks.

Although alopecia areata (AA) severity is often defined by the degree of scalp hair loss, its impact on QOL can also be a defining measure of severity. In this cross-sectional study (AA Disease Specific Program), 259 patients were surveyed for demographics, AA illness characteristics, QOL (Skindex-16 AA), and daily impairment (Work Productivity and Activity Impairment). The association between patient demographics and illness variables, the Skindex-16 AA scores, and the Work Productivity and Activity Impairment scores were analyzed using regression analyses.

Article Synopsis
  • Alopecia neoplastica (AN) occurs when cancer cells damage hair follicles, leading to patchy hair loss resembling other conditions like cicatricial alopecia.
  • The condition is mostly associated with cutaneous metastasis from internal tumors, but there are also cases where it originates from primary scalp tumors, of which only 11 cases have been documented.
  • Misdiagnoses are common, with some patients treated for regular alopecia instead of the underlying tumors, making early recognition and treatment crucial to prevent serious outcomes, including death from aggressive cancers.

  • Tocilizumab (TCZ) is a monoclonal antibody that targets IL-6 signaling and is commonly used for autoimmune diseases, with some rare cases of hair growth changes reported.
  • A 21-year-old woman with alopecia areata (AA) experienced improvement in her hair loss while being treated with TCZ for her eye condition called posterior uveitis.
  • This case suggests that TCZ may positively affect AA by disrupting IL-6 signaling, which plays a role in hair loss and regrowth.
