Disrupting the Family Stress-Proximal Process: A Scoping Review of Interventions for Children with Incarcerated Parents.

The United States' overreliance on incarceration has resulted in the imprisonment of millions of individuals - the majority of whom are parents of minor children. While mass incarceration has failed to effectively reduce crime or increase safety, it has dramatically harmed children and families in the United States. In turn, a wealth of research confirms the negative social, emotional, and psychological impacts of parental incarceration on children and the disproportionate impact on Black and Hispanic families and families living in poverty.
