Background: Chronic cough declines quality of life and increases risk of complications in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Reducing cough severity and associated negative effects is important therapeutic goal in COPD. Rengalin with anti- and protussive activity is based on technologically processed antibodies to bradykinin, histamine and morphine.

We report on the synthesis and temperature-dependent magnetic properties observed in an exchange-coupled copper(II) dimer using X/Q-band Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy (9/34 GHz). It has been found that the zero-field splitting (D) in the dimer changes gradually by a factor close to two in the temperature range from T = 50 to 300 K. X-ray diffraction data show that this dimer consists of two five-coordinated copper ions, one of which has a highly asymmetric geometry intermediate between square pyramid and trigonal bipyramid.

The study assumes the results of 1010 Lichtenstein's hernioplasties. The goal of the investigation was to estimate the results in dependence of the type of the polypropylene implant. The "lite" mesh was used in 342 cases, the second group of 668 patients had the so called "heavy" mesh endoprosthesis.

Results of surgical treatment and frequency of intestinal necrosis in 44 patients with acute mesenterial circulation failure were analyzed. Instrumental method of detecting the border of necrosis by the infracted intestine should allow refuse programmed relaparotomies in treatment of such patients and perform a sole operation with intestinal resection and anastomosis.

Comparative histological and electron microscopic study of mouse tissues at the site of implantation of Cousin mesh and unwoven polypropylene endoprostheses was carried out. Implantation of unwoven endoprosthesis was associated with more pronounced inflammatory reaction with longer elimination of neutrophilic granulocytes and macrophages from the adjacent tissues. The growth of connective tissue components between the implant fibers with the formation of fine connective tissue capsule enveloping the prosthesis was observed during earlier periods of the experiment.

Comparative histological and electron-microscopic studies of tissues at the site of implantation of Vypro and Ultrapro polypropylene mesh endoprostheses and the meshes coated by fibroblasts were carried out. Tissue reaction to implantation of meshes coated by fibroblasts was more pronounced, particularly during the early period, and the process of connective-tissue capsule formation and implant growth was more rapid. The meshes integrated with the adjacent tissues at the site of implantation, which recommends them for clinical use.

Comparative histological and electron microscopic study of tissues in the zone of implantation of polypropylene endoprostheses Prolen and Esfil was carried out in mice. Implantation of a reticular endoprosthesis Esfil was associated with a more pronounced infiltration with neutrophilic granulocytes, macrophages, and lymphocytes. Both nets were characterized by pronounced integration in the adjacent tissues in the implantation zone and can be recommended for clinical use.

Twenty-five studies were made in patients aged 12 to 15 years, who had been operated on for extremity injuries. The patients were divided into 2 groups: (1) those who had been given regional anesthesia with sedation (n=10) and (2) those who had received apparatus-mask anesthesia (n=15). The following parameters: heart rate, blood pressure, stroke volume, cardiac output were estimated.

Polyhaloalkyl-substituted chromones, gamma-pyrones, and beta-furanones react with salicylaldehydes in the presence of piperidine to give a wide variety of fused 2H-chromenes in good yields. This novel annulation reaction presumably proceeds by a tandem intermolecular oxa-Michael addition and subsequent intramolecular Mannich condensation.

Results of standard strained" methods of hernioplasty are not satisfactory. Laparoscopic methods permit to reduce significantly rate of postoperative complications. Technical difficulty and high cost of videoendoscopic technologies make general use of endoscopic plastic surgery in our country problematic.

The choice of plastic treatment of inguinal hernias is stile a problem. The rate of relapses in conventional methods of hernioplasty averages 8%. The commonest complications are nerves' injuries and damage to the arterial and venous vessels of the spermatic cord.
