Background/purpose: The postgraduate year training program for dentists (PGYD) provides the comprehensive clinical training to bridge the gap between the academic education and the hands-on clinical practice. This study mainly explored the influence of training institutions on the future dental practice choices (in clinics or hospitals) after the completion of the PGYD program in Taiwan.

This study aimed to provide an integrated model that examines the determinants of older adults' intention to use mobile registration applications (apps) based on UTAUT, and the role of aging factors including perceived physical condition, technology anxiety, inertia, and self-actualization needs. The proposed model was tested by PLS (Partial Least Squares) with data collected from 361 older adults. Results indicated that three variables derived from UTAUT, namely performance expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions, influence mobile registration app usage intention.

The aims of this cross-sectional study were to examine (a) the developmental status and home environments of children (6-24 months) of immigrant women married to Taiwanese men, and (b) the association of child developmental status with parental socio-demographics, maternal language abilities, and home environment qualities. Participants were 61 children and their mothers from China and Vietnam. Data were collected with interviews, home observations, and developmental testing.

Drawing on Brown and Levinson's (1987) politeness theory, this study investigates the communicative interaction behaviors of physicians, patients, and patients' parents in pediatrics in Taiwan. Thirty outpatients and six senior physicians from three different levels of hospital participated in the study. The analysis results indicate that most of the communicative politeness strategies used in pediatrics are bald-on-record, direct, and non-redressed.

This study argues for the necessity of applying offline contexts to social networking site research and the importance of distinguishing the relationship types of users' counterparts when studying Facebook users' behaviors. In an attempt to examine the relationship among users' behaviors, their counterparts' relationship types, and the users' perceived acquaintanceships after using Facebook, this study first investigated users' frequently used tools when interacting with different types of friends. Users tended to use less time- and effort-consuming and less privacy-concerned tools with newly acquired friends.

In the past, researches showed that patients expected to communicate with physicians through the internet, but physicians presented conservative attitudes. In this research, researchers interview 20 physicians who have communicated with patients through the medical web messaging board. The results reveal some factors that influence physicians' behaviour towards adopting it: in the personal aspect, physicians' slow typing skills in Chinese and patients' insufficient medical knowledge are factors.

This study explores motivations of online photo album users in Taiwan and the distinctive "staging" phenomenon with media gratifications and an a priori theoretical framework, the spectacle/performance paradigm (SPP). Media drenching, performance, function and reference are "new" gratifications, which no prior research was found. These gratifications are consistent with the argument of the "diffused audience" on the Internet.
