[The application of laripront in the pediatric otorhinolaryngological practice].

The objective of the present study was to estimate the efficacy of laripront intended for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the laryngopharynx in the children. Available for the observation were 50 patients aged between 4 and 14 years suffering from the following ENT pathologies: adenoiditis, lacunar tonsillitis, acute laryngitis, chronic tonsillitis, oropharyngeal candidiasis, chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis, atrophic pharyngolaryngitis after the chemical burn of the mouse cavity and laryngopharynx or in the case of gastroesophageal reflux disease. All the patients enjoyed the positive outcome of the treatment that was especially efficacions in the patients with acute pathologies.

[The efficacy of rinopront for the treatment of acute and chronic rhinitis in the children].

The objective of the present study was to estimate the therapeutic efficacy of rinopront used to treat inflammatory diseases of the nasopharynx in the children. The study included 32 patients at the age between 12 and 14 years presenting with various forms of acute and chronic rhinitis. The children with infectious inflammatory rhinitis with concomitant catarrhal maxillary sinusitis and pronounced symptoms of rhino-conjunctival syndrome recovered within 4-5 days after the initiation of rhinopront therapy.

[Sore throat and chronic tonsillitis (an analytical review)].

This communication is designed to overview the literature publications concerning sore throat and chronic tonsillitis that appeared during the period from 2007 to 2011. It is shown that the prevalence of chronic tonsillar pathology tends to grow progressively over time and is presently 1.5-1.

[Pseudomonas aeruginosa: characteristics of biofilm process].

Definition of the biofilm process as one of the types of intercellular bacterial communications is presented. The modern data concerning the structure of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm matrix and genetic mechanisms necessary for its production are described. Active and passive rejections of biofilm bacteria, which are the basis of bacterial spreading to new surfaces, are discussed.

[Late diagnosis of celiac disease in a child with cystic fibrosis].

[Hemostatic provision of surgical treatment of juvenile angiofibromas of the skull base in children].

For three years we operated sixty two 7-16-year-old children for angiofibroma of the base of the skull. To reduce the risk of massive intra- and postoperative bleeding, we used preoperative endovascular occlusion of the vessels carrying blood to the tumor. In addition to preventive administration of vicasol, ethamsilate, dicinon and transamine, we used highly effective hemostatic drugs tahocomb and novo-seven intraoperatively in case of massive blood loss.

[The role of betaserk in combined treatment of neurosensory hypoacusis and vestibulopathy in childhood].

[Clinical effectiveness of Duracef in children with ENT inflammation].

106 children aged 4 to 14 years received duracef for different acute and chronic (exacerbation) ENT inflammation. The drug proved highly effective in acute diseases of the parynx, paranasal sinuses and ear. In exacerbations of chronic inflammatory diseases it was insufficiently effective.

[Dysphagia in infants].

39 cases of congenital dysphagia in infants treated by the author provided evidence for advantage of rigid and fibrooptic endoscopy in examination of such patients. High informative value in detection of swallowing defects is attributed to high-speed cinorhoentgenography with low-speed film review. Recommendations on the treatment of infantile traumatic dysphagia are given.

[Angiofibroma of the base of the skull in children].

Throughout 1988-1993 ENT surgeons from the Central Pediatric clinic operated on 35 children aged 3-14 years for angiofibroma of the base of the skull. The majority of the cases were advanced with involvement of all the paranasal sinuses. The tumor has invaded the orbit, pterygopalatine, infratemporal, middle cranial fossa, cavernous sinus and internal carotid artery in 5, 7, 3, 5 and 1 children, respectively.

[An analysis of reoperations on the middle ear in childhood].

According to the data provided by the Moscow ENT hospitals, the number of resurgery on the middle ear in children rose 3-fold. This is due to frequent failure of antrodrain surgery, higher prevalence of mycotic infection and recurrent inflammation in the middle ear. When planning otic surgery in children it is necessary to take into consideration both the involvement of the middle ear and medical personnel ability to provide proper postoperative care.

[Metabolic function characteristics and respiratory pathology of premature infants].

A total of 143 premature children of the first 3 months of life (the body weight upon birth 1200-2500 g) staying at a specialized hospital, and 28 children (the body weight upon birth 1100-2500 g) under 3 years staying at a pulmonological sanatorium were examined. Studies on enzymatic functions (uropepsin, glutathione, protease and lipase activity in the blood serum) revealed a decrease in adaptation processes in premature children with acute pneumonia, and during reconvalescence in children with hypotrophy. In premature neonates on formula feeding with a mixture of "Malyutka", the content of total lipids, cholesterol and phospholipids was lower than in children on natural feeding.
