Introduction: Outcomes for patients with traumatic duodenal injury are determined by the location of the injury, injury severity, and associated injuries. We hypothesized that there is an association among the increased frequency of firearm injuries, the severity of duodenal injuries, trends in repair techniques, and mortality.
Methods: Duodenal injuries managed at an adult level 1 hospital from 2000 to 2022 were identified.
Burn injury predisposes patients to significant psychological morbidity, including anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress. Adding to the burden of injury, patients often require transfer to specialized burn centers located far from home. We hypothesized that greater distances between a patient's home address and the treating burn center would increase the rate of postinjury anxiety and depression.

Using acoustic gunshot detection and a collaborative hospital and law enforcement firearm injury database, we sought to identify the relationship between firearm discharge and injury over time.
Study Design: From 2018 to 2021, instances of firearm discharge captured via acoustic detection in 6 square miles of Louisville, KY, were merged with data from the collaborative firearm injury database.
