The methanol leaves extract of Cajanus cajan was tested for its effectiveness in lowering blood sugar levels in diabetic rats, showing significant reductions in fasting blood sugar.
It demonstrated a dose-related response with the best results occurring 4 to 6 hours after administration.
The extract was also found to be safe, with an LD50 of greater than 5 g/kg, suggesting it could be a promising option for antidiabetic treatment.
