While preemptive therapy with ganciclovir (GCV) for cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is used following allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT), risk factors for CMV infection in children undergoing HSCT are poorly understood. We studied CMV reactivation following allogeneic HSCT by retrospectively analyzing pediatric patients who received allogeneic HSCT and preemptive GCV therapy between 1998 and 2016. The level of viremia requiring preemptive GCV therapy was >1 CMV antigen-positive cells per 5 × 10 leukocytes during the antigenemia assay era and >1000 copies/mL in the polymerase chain reaction era.

In this study, we investigated how physical health moderates the effect of housework on the perceived well-being in a sample of middle-aged and older women living with a partner in Taiwan. Two main findings were identified: First, the health status of middle-aged and older women moderates the relationship between their sense of housework fairness and perceived happiness. Second, the health status of their spouse moderates the relationship between their housework performance and perceived happiness.

Previous studies have shown that biochemical changes that occur in the amygdala during fear conditioning in vivo are similar to those occur during long term potentiation (LTP) in vitro. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay of nuclear extracts from startle-potentiated rats showed a selective increase in the amygdala of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) DNA binding activity. Supershift experiments further indicated that p65 and p50 subunits but not c-Rel were involved in DNA binding.
