Early Postoperative Oral Exercise Improves Swallowing Function Among Patients With Oral Cavity Cancer: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Dysphagia remains an unsolved problem for patients with oral cavity cancer who have undergone surgery. This randomized controlled trial was conducted to determine the effect of oral exercise in addition to standard general care and diet counseling on the physiology of swallowing. Fifty patients (25 in each group) with oral and oropharyngeal cancer who underwent tumor resection, neck dissection, and reconstruction were enrolled in this study.
