Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the incidence of postoperative complications following volar locking plate (VLP) fixation of distal radius fractures (DRFs).
Methods: A search using keywords and subject headings to represent the concepts of volar plating and radius fractures was generated. Databases such as MEDLINE (Ovid), Embase (Elsevier), Scopus (Elsevier), and SPORTDiscus (EBSCO) were searched from inception to November 24, 2021, for randomized controlled trials that reported complications following DRF treated with VLP.
Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a life-altering condition, and delays to care can significantly impact outcomes. In Uganda, where nurse shortages are prevalent, patients' family members are the primary caretakers of these patients and play an important role in ensuring patients' access to timely care. However, caretakers often have little or no knowledge of appropriate patient care.
