Are boarding secondary schools suitable for students with asthma? An asynchronous online focus group discussion among members of an asthma awareness group.

Introduction: Children in boarding schools spend most of their time without their parents or caregivers, causing concerns about the suitability of such schools for children with asthma. This study assessed individuals' opinions regarding the suitability of boarding secondary schools for children with asthma.

Methods: A qualitative design was adopted for this study using a focus group discussion held on a social media platform (WhatsApp®) of the Asthma Awareness and Care Group (AACG), The group comprised 150 registered members.

Pain associated psychological distress is more strongly associated with shoulder pain and function than tear severity in patients undergoing rotator cuff repair.

Background: Psychological distress has been associated with declining shoulder function in patients with rotator cuff tears (RCTs). Thus, we aimed to 1) evaluate the absence or presence of differences in shoulder pain, function, or pain-associated psychological distress in patients with increasing RCT severity and 2) assess whether psychological distress is associated with shoulder pain and function while adjusting for RCT severity.

Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent rotator cuff repair and completed the optimal screening for prediction of referral and outcome (OSPRO) survey from 2019 to 2021 were included.

Regional anesthesia is associated with improved metastasis free survival after surgical resection of bone sarcomas.

There is increasing evidence that perioperative factors, including type of anesthesia, may be an important consideration regarding oncological disease progression. Previous studies have suggested that regional anesthesia can improve oncological outcomes by reducing the surgical stress response that occurs during tumor resection surgery and that may promote metastatic progression. The purpose of this study is to provide the first robust investigation of the impact of adding regional anesthesia to general anesthesia on oncological outcomes following sarcoma resection.
