Elderly people in the community have difficulty taking care of themselves because of their inability to care for themselves in daily life as well as their poor social support system, which leads to loneliness, resulting in depression. The primary objective was to investigate the level of depression and related factors among community-dwelling elderly persons (CDEP). This was a cross-sectional study, and 150 participants were interviewed.

Methods: We identified a nationally-representative sample of females aged 30 years or above who were eligible for Pap smear testing in Taiwan from 1 January to 31 December 2013. An administrative database with detailed claims of health care utilization under the universal coverage health care system was used.
Background: Apurinic/apyrimidinic (abasic/AP) sites are among the most common endogenous DNA lesions. AP sites, if not repaired, could result in genomic instability as well as chromosome aberrations. Information regarding the direct assay of the number of abasic sites in human leukocytes and its association with risk of breast cancer has not been reported.
