Chronic Subdural Hematoma Drainage Under Local Anesthesia with Sedation versus General Anesthesia and Its Outcome.

Background: Burr hole drainage is the criterion standard treatment for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), a common neurosurgical condition. However, apart from the surgical technique, the method of anesthesia also has a significant impact on postoperative patient outcome. Currently, there are limited studies comparing the use of local anesthesia with sedation (LA sedation) versus general anesthesia (GA) in the drainage of CSDH.

Objectives: Brain volume reduction occurs with age, especially in Parkinson plus syndrome or psychiatric disorders. We searched to define the degree of volume discrepancy in advanced IPD patients and correlate the anatomical volumetric changes to motor symptoms and cognitive function.

An Anechoic Space at the Carpal Tunnel Inlet is a Consistent Ultrasonographic Entity which Accommodates Tendon Displacement during Finger Flexion.

Background: We consistently observed the presence of anechoic spaces on standard ultrasonographic imaging of the carpal tunnel inlet in normal subjects. These spaces change in size during finger flexion and have not been characterized in a large sample of normal individuals. Ultrasonographic quantification of these spaces may indicate the available space in the region of the carpal tunnel, which allows the normal motion of tendons and the median nerve.

Pseudotuberculous Granulomatous Pyelitis.

We report a case of pseudotuberculous granulomatous pyelitis in an elderly female patient with hydronephrotic right kidney secondary to obstructing urinary stone. Pseudotuberculous granulomatous pyelitis is a rarely reported entity, characterized by severe granulomatous inflammation limited predominantly to the renal pelvis. A rare case of combined placental site trophoblastic tumour with mature cystic teratoma and mixed germ cell tumour in the testis.

A 20-year-old male presented with persistent right testicular pain. Following ultrasound detection of testicular nodules and biopsy for intraoperative consultation which yielded germ cell tumour, he underwent radical orchidectomy. A predominantly whitish cyst and a lobulated, variegated nodule were identified.
