Purpose: To access and synthesize the existing literature about the effects of compassionate care on oral health outcomes.

Methods: A scoping review was performed following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to identify articles from six electronic databases: MEDLINE via the PubMed interface, Embase, Age-Line, Scopus, CINAHL, and Cochrane.

Results: Among 30 studies reporting on compassion in dental treatment, only two reported on the effects of compassionate care on oral health outcomes.

Human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived alveolar organoids have emerged as a system to model the alveolar epithelium in homeostasis and disease. However, alveolar organoids are typically grown in Matrigel, a mouse sarcoma-derived basement membrane matrix that offers poor control over matrix properties, prompting the development of synthetic hydrogels as a Matrigel alternative. Here, we develop a two-step culture method that involves pre-aggregation of organoids in hydrogel-based microwells followed by embedding in a synthetic hydrogel that supports alveolar organoid growth, while also offering considerable control over organoid and hydrogel properties.

Methods: A systematic review was performed following preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to identify articles from seven electronic databases: MEDLINE via the PubMed interface, Embase, Age-Line, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, and Cochrane.

Results: Among twenty-four references reporting on ageism among oral health care providers and/or students, only two reported on the outcomes of strategies for combating ageism at dental schools, with a 12-year gap between them.

An investigation of ×19 soil samples collected under the auspices of the Australian citizen science initiative, Soils for Science, returned ×559 chemically dereplicated microbial isolates, of which ×54 exhibited noteworthy anthelmintic activity against either the heartworm microfilaria and/or the gastrointestinal parasite L1-L3 larvae. Chemical (GNPS and UPLC-DAD) and cultivation (MATRIX) profiling prompted a detailed chemical investigation of sp. People of African Descent (PoAD) in the United Kingdom (UK) are at an increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease (CVD), partly due to dietary habits such as high salt intake. This study sought to understand the dietary salt-related knowledge, attitudes, and practises (KAP) of PoAD in the UK, to inform the development of culturally tailored interventions to reduce dietary salt intake in this population. Lipids and their mediators have important regulatory functions in many cellular processes, including the innate antiviral response. The aim of this study was to compare the lipid membrane composition of in vitro differentiated primary bronchial epithelial cells (PBECs) with ex vivo bronchial brushings and to establish whether any changes in the lipid membrane composition affect antiviral defense of cells from donors without and with severe asthma. Using mass spectrometry, we showed that the lipid membrane of in vitro differentiated PBECs was deprived of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) compared to ex vivo bronchial brushings.

We have analysed [Formula: see text] with a combination of synchrotron X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy across a pressure range of [Formula: see text] GPa with thermal annealing by a [Formula: see text] laser allowing access to all of the known high-density polymorphs of [Formula: see text], and here report their crystallographic information. The metastability of the post-rutile [Formula: see text]-[Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] structures in [Formula: see text] are investigated by experiment and PW-DFT simulations, revealing a complex energetic landscape and suggesting a significant dependence of the observed phases on the pressure-temperature pathway taken in experiment. Automated pupil light reflex (PLR) is a valid indicator of dysfunctional autonomic brain function following traumatic brain injury. PLR's use in identifying disturbed autonomic brain function following repeated head impacts without outwardly visible symptoms has not yet been examined. As a combat sport featuring repeated 'sub-concussive' head impacts, mixed martial arts (MMA) sparring may provide a model to understand such changes.
