We studied the influence of structural and functional disorders in cardiovascular and renal system and metabolic disturbances on perinatal outcomes in pregnant women with chronic arterial hypertension. The study included 100 women with these pathologies and 30 patients with physiological pregnancy. Comprehensive evaluation of the cardiovascular system, metabolic status, and perinatal outcomes was undertaken.

The paper describes the state-of-the-art of risk factors for cardiorenal complications in women. It is shown that while managing women of reproductive, menopausal, and menopausal ages, great importance should be attached to the assessment of all risk factors for the development and progression of chronic renal and cardiovascular diseases. Investigations of the specific features of these factors in women, their enrollment along with men in large-scale randomized trials will serve as a basis for developing more effective programs for the prevention and therapy for cardiovascular and renal diseases and hence will be able to reduce disability rates, to increase quality of life, and to prolong its span.

This work had the aim to study effect of systemic inflammation in patients with COPD and COPD with arterial hypertension (AH) based on the state of endothelium and the degree of atherosclerosis of common carotid arteries. The study included 51 men (mean age 50.9 +/- 3 yr) 20 of whom (mean age 54.

The purpose of the study was to assess the influence of structural and functional changes in the myocardium of the right and left ventricle (RVand LV) on the development of ischemia and arrhythmia in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma (BA). The subjects of the study were 156 patients with either persistent BA (81 patients) or COPD (75 patients). Patients with decompensated cor pulmonale were excluded.

The study was undertaken to define the prevalence and pattern of myocardial ischemia and cardiac arrhythmia in patients with persistent bronchial asthma (BA) in relation to its severity. Eighty-one patients with persistent BA, including 21 patients with mild BA, 39 with moderate BA, and 21 with severe BA, were examined. ECG and Holter 24-hour monitoring were performed.

To compare the impact of therapy with dialtiazem and enapril on myocardial ischemia, this randomized study included 25 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis and myocardial ischemia. A comparative assessment of the results of therapy showed a uniform time course of changes in the parameters of Holter monitoring and bicycle ergometry (BEM). In a group of patients receiving dialthizem, there were reduces in the number of episodes of painful and silent ischemia by 66.

Seventy patients with bronchial asthma (BA), including 17 with mild asthma, 41 with moderate asthma, and 12 with severe BA, were examined by performing external respiration function test, echocardioscopy, ECG, 24-hour Holter monitoring, lipid metabolic studies. Myocardial ischemia was detected in 47% of the patients with BA: in 56 and 83% with moderate and severe BA, respectively. Silent myocardial ischemia was found in 32% of the patients with moderate BA.

Zinc oxide is a main occupational hazard in electrosmelting workshops of brass and bronze alloys. Chronic occupational pulmonary diseases in the workshops are zinc exogenous fibrosing alveolitis among smelters and operators of bridge cranes, silicosis among fettlers of electric ovens.

Morphologic study of lung specimens obtained during diagnostic thoractomy in 6 workers engaged in smelting brass-bronze alloys showed changes typical of exogenous fibrosing alveolitis, namely, terminal bronchiolitis with pseudopolypous growth in the submucous layer, vasculitis (predominantly arteritis) paralleled by secondary recalibration of vessels, arteriolar and venular shunting, and microcirculatory disorders.
