The widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) in drinking water systems and their risk of releasing additives have caused widespread concern. However, current research on the migration and risks of MPs and additives in the complete drinking water supply chain remains inadequate. In this study, micro-Raman spectrometer was used to track the entire transport process of MPs from the water source to the tap water, with concentrations ranging from 805 to 4960 items/L, and polyethylene and Polyethylene terephthalate were dominant.

Human enteric viruses, such as norovirus, adenovirus, rotavirus, and enterovirus, are crucial targets in controlling biological contamination in water systems worldwide. Due to their small size and low concentrations in water, effective virus concentration and detection methods are essential for ensuring microbial safety. This paper reviews the typical and innovative methods for concentrating and detecting human enteric viruses, highlights viral contamination levels across different water bodies, and discusses the removal efficiencies of virus through various treatment technologies.

The worldwide dissemination of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-1 (NDM-1), which mediates resistance to almost all clinical β-lactam antibiotics, is a major public health problem. The global distribution, species, sources, and potential transfer risk of bla-carrying bacteria are unclear. Results of a comprehensive analysis of literature in 2010-2022 showed that a total of 6002 bla carrying bacteria were widely distributed around 62 countries with a high trend in the coastal areas.

The widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) contamination in drinking water has raised concerns regarding water safety and public health. In this study, a micro-Raman spectrometer was used to trace the occurrence of MP transport from a water source to a drinking water treatment plant (DWTP)1 with an advanced treatment process and DWTP2 with a conventional treatment process and the contributions of different processes to the risk reduction of MPs were explored. Six types of MPs were detected: polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyamide, and polyvinyl chloride.

With the rapid economy development and population surge, the water resources available for direct use on the earth have been in shortage. Therefore, water pollution remediation inevitably becomes the focus of global attention. Aside from their capacity to fix and effectively control the emission of carbon dioxide thus achieve negative carbon emission, microalgae and its products modified by genetic engineering and other technologies also have a broad prospect in sewage treatment such as efficiently removing all kinds of pollutants in water and producing high-quality biofuels after use.
