The standard includes a staff list, objective calculation, and planning the salary in accordance with a real amount of work. On performing the high-tech and labor-intensive morphological studies, the actual spent time essentially differs from the current standards, which requires implementation of organizational, financial, economic, and methodological measures at the federal level.

A systemic review of disease histories delivered from hospitals and outpatient clinics of the Leningrad region in Leningrad region pathoanatomical bureau to examine quality of diagnosis and treatment led to organization of the Expertise Centre of Medical Service Quality at the bureau. The Centre participates in licensing and accreditation of medical activity in the Leningrad region. For the patients this Centre is an instrument of legal control providing help in defencing their rights.

Results of experimental (12) and clinical (26) observations of autotransplantation of spleen fragments into the greater omentum after splenectomy are described. Optimum sizes of the transplanted fragments of the spleen were determined. The influence of this operation on homeostasis was studied.

Cholangio- and hepatocellular adenomas of the liver occur very rarely. An observation of a man of 55 is presented who, along with the above pathology, had in the liver areas of a cartilagelike tissue with cavities filled with erythrocytes and resembling bone marrow canals which emphasized the dysembryogenetic origin of the tumor. No description of such combined pathology could be found in the available literature.

Cerebral scanning was performed in 52 cases of brain infarctions (in 43 cases in the system of middle brain arteries and in 9 cases in the vertebro-basillar basin). For this purpose in 46 of the studied cases human albumin serum, labeled readioactive I131 was used and in 6 cases-Tc 99m. Positive scannograms were received only in 16 patients with infarctions in the system of the middle brain arteries.

The authors studied 1252 scannograms of 1170 patients. Plane image variants of the shape of normal, dystopic and maldeveloped thyroid gland were studied. Scannographic image of the structure of pathology of the organ and peculiarities of absorption and distribution of radioactive indicators (I131, Tc99m), depending on the histological picture of the pathological process and other factors stimulating or blocking its function are discussed.
