Airways flat angioma misdiagnosed as difficult asthma in an adolescent.

A 15 years-old boy came to our attention with a diagnosis of poorly controlled asthma. This case required thorough investigations: CT scan imaging revealed a flat angioma extending from the carina to the left main bronchus. Rigid bronchoscopy confirmed the presence of an angioma showing widespread mucosal diffusion involving most of the posterior tracheal wall and main bronchi, on the left side.

Appropriate and inappropriate vitamin supplementation in children.

The vitamin status of a child depends on many factors and most of the clinical studies do not take into account the different access to adequate nutrition of children coming from different countries and the consequent major differences in micronutrients or vitamin deficits between low-income and high-income countries. Vitamin supplements are included in the general field of dietary supplements. There is a large amount of not always factual material concerning vitamin supplements, and this may sometimes create confusion in clinicians and patients.

Allergy and Sexual Behaviours: an Update.

The exact prevalence of hypersensitivity reactions related to sexual behaviours is not known; however, they heavily impact on the quality of life and of sex life of affected patients. In fact, not only common respiratory and skin allergies, such as asthma, rhinitis, urticaria and atopic dermatitis, but also food and drug allergy have been found to negatively affect the quality of sex life. Allergic diseases impact on the sexual function in both physical and psychological ways, representing one of the main complaints of a considerable proportion of patients.
