Background: Individual events during donation after circulatory death (DCD) procurement, such as hypotensive or hypoxic warm ischemia, or circulatory arrest are all a part of donor warm ischemia time (dWIT), and may have differing effects on the outcome of the liver graft. This study aimed to identify risk factors for postreperfusion syndrome (PRS), a state of severe hemodynamic derangement following graft reperfusion, and its impact on DCD liver transplantation (LT) outcomes.

Methods: This was a retrospective analysis using 106 DCD LT.

Background: Assess impact of direct-acting antivirals introduction on outcomes after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Methods: 391 patients (1991-2021) treated with resection for hepatocellular carcinoma on Hepatitis C background were divided according to receiving Hepatitis C treatment, treatment type, achievement of sustained virological response (SVR), time of resection pre- (Era 1, 1991-2011) and post-direct acting antivirals introduction (Era 2, 2012-2021). Survival was estimated with Kaplan-Meier curves, Cox regression analysis performed to identify survival predictors.

Trans people face numerous barriers to access and permanence in health services, which makes it difficult, among other things, to know about their quality of life and satisfaction with health services related to these users. Thus, the objective was to describle the quality of life and satisfaction with pharmacotherapeutic follow-up in transgender people. A cross-sectional, descriptive, and quantitative study was conducted between January and September 2022 at a specialized outpatient clinic for transgender individuals.

Background: Successful treatment of hepatitis C reduces liver inflammation and fibrosis; however, patients remain at risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Aims: To identify risk factors for new-onset HCC in patients cured of hepatitis C.

Methods: Imaging, histological, and clinical data on patients whose first HCC was diagnosed >12 months of post-SVR were analyzed.

Background: This study aimed to identify risk factors for postreperfusion syndrome (PRS) and its impact on LT outcomes.

Methods: Data analysis was performed in 1021 adult patients undergoing donation after brain death (DBD) LT to identify PRS incidence, the risk factors for PRS development, and its impact on LT outcomes.

Results: The overall incidence of PRS was 16.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are "natural" interferon α (IFNα)-producing cells. Despite their importance to antiviral defense, autoimmunity, and ischemic liver graft injury, because DC subsets are rare and heterogeneous, basic questions about liver pDC function and capacity to make cytokines remain unanswered. Previous investigations failed to consistently detect IFNα mRNA in HCV-infected livers, suggesting that pDCs may be incapable of producing IFNα.

A community pharmacist (CP) must provide counseling to consumers of nonprescription medicines and promote responsible self-medication. Previous studies indicate no available statistics on the proportion of pharmacies that provide cognitive services in Brazil. Furthermore, few studies have explored CPs' performance regarding patient-centred cognitive services in community pharmacies.

Background: The impact of ethnicity on outcomes after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) is unclear. The British Indo-Asian population has a high incidence of liver disease but its contribution to the national deceased donor pool is small. We evaluated access to and outcomes of OLT in Indo-Asians.

Background: Donation after cardiac death (DCD) has reemerged as potential way to increase donor liver availability. Earlier, programs with DCD liver transplantation used conservative donor criteria to allow safe results. Successful initial outcomes allowed extended DCD criteria to address transplant demand.
