Importance: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) in diabetes may lead to diabetic foot ulcer and lower-extremities amputation. Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists have proven cardiovascular benefits in trials of people with type 2 diabetes at high cardiovascular risk.
Objective: To examine the effect of liraglutide on peripheral perfusion measured as peripheral transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TcPo2) in individuals with type 2 diabetes and PAD.
Aims: The aims of this study were to evaluate parathormone (PTH) levels in people with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and investigate the relationship between PTH levels and osteomyelitis (OM) in this population.
Materials And Methods: Eighty-eight patients were admitted for DFU in a tertiary-care centre from October 2021 to May 2022. OM was diagnosed by clinical, laboratory, and radiological evaluations.
An unresolved issue in autoimmunity is the lack of surrogate biomarkers of immunological self-tolerance for disease monitoring. Here, we show that peripheral frequency of a regulatory T cell population, characterized by the co-expression of CD3 and CD56 molecules (T), is reduced in subjects with new-onset type 1 diabetes (T1D). In three independent T1D cohorts, we find that low frequency of circulating T cells is associated with reduced β-cell function and with the presence of diabetic ketoacidosis.
