Proton insertion mechanism with fast reaction kinetics is attracting more and more attention for high-rate and durable aqueous Zn─MnO batteries. However, hydrated Zn insertion reaction accompanied with Jahn-Teller effect and Mn disproportionation generally leads to sluggish rate capability and irreversible structure transformation. Here, carboxyl-carbon nanotubes supported α-MnO nanoarrays (C─MnO) cathode is successfully fabricated by a convent grinding process for high-performance Zn batteries.

Introduction: In aviation, exceptional visual perception is crucial for pilots to monitor flight instruments and respond swiftly to deviations, as well as make rapid judgments regarding environmental changes, ensuring aviation safety. However, existing research on pilots' visual perception has predominantly focused on behavioral observations, with limited exploration of the neurophysiological mechanisms involved.
Methods: This study aimed to investigate the brain activity associated with the visual perception capabilities of flight cadets.
Objective: Early predicting response before neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is crucial for personalized treatment plans for locally advanced breast cancer patients. We aim to develop a multi-task model using multiscale whole slide images (WSIs) features to predict the response to breast cancer NAC more finely.
Methods: This work collected 1,670 whole slide images for training and validation sets, internal testing sets, external testing sets, and prospective testing sets of the weakly-supervised deep learning-based multi-task model (DLMM) in predicting treatment response and pCR to NAC.
Background: Oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a highly lethal cancer characterized by its aggressive nature and chemotherapy resistance. Peptidylarginine deiminase 4 (PADI4) regulates protein citrullination and is associated with various cancer developments. The role of PADI4 in OSCC progression and chemoresistance remains unexplored.

The p-n heterojunction was synthesized via RF magnetron sputtering and spin coating, followed by annealing. Structural and optical analyses confirmed their enhanced light absorption, efficient charge separation, and strong built-in electric field.

This study employed RNA-seq analysis to examine gene expression in the hypothalamic tissue of Yunshang black goats during the luteal phase in goats with high fecundity (LP_HY), during the luteal phase in goats with low fecundity (LP_LY), during the follicular phase in goats with high fecundity (FP_HY), and during the follicular phase in goats with low fecundity (FP_LY). Differential long non-coding RNAs (DE lncRNAs) and differential mRNAs (DE mRNAs) were subjected to Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses and the construction of co-expression networks associated with reproduction.

Alveolar echinococcosis (AE), caused by the larval stage of the tapeworm , is a serious parasitic disease that presents significant health risks and challenges for both patients and healthcare systems. Accurate and timely diagnosis is essential for effective management and improved patient outcomes. This review summarizes the latest diagnostic methods for AE, focusing on serological tests and imaging techniques such as ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).

We sought to validate the hypothesis that the duration post-radiotherapy is linked to the progression of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and further explored its connection with mortality. Twenty-nine NPC patients who underwent radiotherapy and seventeen healthy controls were examined by carotid ultrasound for measurement of IMT and carotid plaque score at the common carotid artery (CCA), carotid bifurcation, and internal carotid artery, with follow-ups more than 6 years.

Although transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) remains a key treatment for these patients, there is no prognostic model for survival outcomes based on the pretreatment factors of patients who meet the updated 2022 BCLC indications for TACE. The aim of this study was to develop a pretreatment risk model predicting overall survival (OS) in patients with intermediate-stage HCC and reclassified as candidates for TACE according to the updated 2022 BCLC criteria.

However, current detection methods such as fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) have limitations in speed, cost, and specificity, particularly when distinguishing between focal amplification and polysomy.
Methods: This study introduces a novel digital PCR (dPCR) assay designed not only to detect amplification but also to differentiate between its focal and non-focal subtypes.
Fabry disease is characterized by an X sex chromosome gene mutation caused by α-galactosidase A deficiency, resulting in the accumulation of globotriaosylceramide and globotriaosylsphingosine in various organs, which induces end-organ lesions. In Fabry disease, enzymes with lost or decreased activity in the body are replaced by exogenous supplementation of normal-function α-galactosidase A. Currently, agalsidase α and agalsidase β are widely used for ERT therapy.

Human-to-human transmission of the disease has been documented, but the mechanisms of transmission require further investigation.
Methods: Epidemiological investigations and genetic analyses of the patients were conducted, and a retrospective cohort study was performed to analyze potential risk factors for person-to-person transmission.
Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a rare congenital disorder with diverse manifestations, including diffuse choroidal hemangiomas causing visual impairment. This case report describes a 14-year-old girl with retinal detachment due to diffuse choroidal hemangioma, treated effectively using external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). The treatment achieved a significant 55% reduction in choroidal thickness after the first phase and near-complete remission after supplementary therapy.

Subject/methods: Cross-sectional study of adults with uveitis. The exclusion criterion was corneal opacity sufficient to obscure slit lamp examination of the anterior chamber.
Purpose: The aim of the present study was to explore the impact of different planes of popliteal artery injury (PAI) on the risk of amputation in affected limbs.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on ninety-four patients who underwent PAI; these patients were divided into an amputation group (n = 26) and a nonamputation group (n = 68) on the basis of whether limb preservation was successful. The data were reconstructed from computed tomography angiography (CTA) of the patients' lower limbs and measured via AW Volume Share 5 software.
Context: Sarcopenia is a disease characterized by low muscle mass and function that places individuals at greater risk of disability, loss of independence, and death. Current therapies include addressing underlying performance issues, resistance training, and/or nutritional strategies. However, these approaches have significant limitations, and chronic inflammation associated with sarcopenia may blunt the anabolic response to exercise and nutrition.

Orthopaedic surgeons face notable occupational hazards, including suboptimal ergonomics in the operating room (OR). This results in high rates of musculoskeletal injuries that affect at least four in 10 orthopaedic surgeons. Sex disparities exacerbate these issues, with female surgeons reporting markedly higher rates of occupational injuries and discomfort with surgical instrument use compared with male surgeons.
