Development of high-performance and inexpensive electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at neutral pH is important for direct seawater splitting and organic electrosynthesis but remains challenging due to the sluggish OER kinetics and diverse side reactions inherent to the constituents of working electrolytes. Herein, we report on a P:NiFe electrode, containing P-doped NiFe alloy, as an excellent electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and OER pre-catalyst for efficient OER in both seawater and organic electrolyte for adiponitrile (ADN) electrosynthesis at neutral pH. Fe and P species modulate the coordination environment of nickel sites, which enables the simultaneous formation of OER-active nickel species and FePO passivation layer, thus transforming HER-active P:NiFe to OER-active a-P:NiFe.

A highly efficient electrocatalytic platform based on formed metallic bismuth submicron crystals (Bi) was developed for 4-aminophenol electrosynthesis the electrochemical reduction of 4-nitrophenol at acidic pH. The facile formation and high reactivity of Bi enable efficient electrosynthesis of 4-aminophenol with high selectivity (∼100%) at the expense of an ultra-low overpotential.

The relationship between metastasis-associated protein 2 (MTA2) overexpression and tumor growth and metastasis has been extensively studied in a variety of tumor cells but not in human osteosarcoma cells. This study aims to elucidate the clinical significance, underlying molecular mechanisms, and biological functions of MTA2 in human osteosarcoma and . Our results show that MTA2 was elevated in osteosarcoma cell lines and osteosarcoma tissues and was associated with tumor stage and overall survival of osteosarcoma patients.

The development of intrinsically stretchable -type semiconducting polymers has garnered much interest in recent years. In this study, three biobased dianhydrohexitol epimers of isosorbide (), isomannide (), and isoidide (), derived from cellulose, were incorporated into the backbone of a naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based -type semiconducting polymer as conjugation break spacers (CBSs). Accordingly, three polymers were synthesized through the Migita-Kosugi-Stille coupling polymerization with NDI, bithiophene, and CBSs, and the mobility-stretchability properties of these polymers were investigated and compared with those of their analogues with conventional alkyl-based CBSs.

6-Hydroxyhexanoic acid and adipic acid are platform chemicals and are widely used as building blocks for the synthesis of important polymers. Nevertheless, the industrial syntheses of these two chemicals are fossil fuel-based and involve the use of corrosive acid and emission of the NO greenhouse gas. In this study, the electrosynthesis of 6-hydroxyhexanoic acid and adipic acid from the electrochemical oxidation of hexanediol at the nanoporous nickel oxyhydroxide modified electrode was explored as an environmentally-benign alternative to the industrial syntheses of 6-hydroxyhexanoic acid and adipic acid.

The mismatch negativity (MMN) is considered the electrophysiological change-detection response of the brain, and therefore a valuable clinical tool for monitoring functional changes associated with return to consciousness after severe brain injury. Using an auditory multi-deviant oddball paradigm, we tracked auditory MMN responses in seventeen healthy controls over a 12-h period, and in three comatose patients assessed over 24 h at two time points. We investigated whether the MMN responses show fluctuations in detectability over time in full conscious awareness, or whether such fluctuations are rather a feature of coma.
