Groundwater serves as an indispensable resource for freshwater, but its quality has experienced a notable decline over recent decades. Spatial prediction of groundwater quality (GWQ) can effectively assist managers in groundwater remediation, management, and risk control. Based on the traditional intrinsic groundwater vulnerability (IGV) model (DRASTIC) and three vegetation (V) indicators (NDVI, EVI, and kNDVI) and four human activity (H) indicators (land use, GDP, urbanization index, and nighttime light), we constructed four models for GWQ spatial prediction in the Jianghan Plain (JHP), namely DRASTI, DRASTIH, DRASTIV, and DRASTIVH, excluding the conductivity (C) indicator due to its uniformly low values.

We herein disclose a strategy for the asymmetric desymmetrization of cyclohexadiene derivatives via a palladium-catalyzed Heck and tandem Heck/Tsuji-Trost allylic alkoxylation reaction. By employing DCE as the solvent, we obtained a variety of chiral hydrindanes containing an all-carbon quaternary carbon center and a tertiary carbon chiral center in good yields with excellent enantioselectivities. With alcohols as the solvent, the valuable chiral hydrindanes with one quaternary stereocenter and two tertiary centers were constructed with a high level of enantioinduction.

A novel iridium-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation of naphthylamines and α-diazocarbonyl compounds was developed for the rapid assembly of densely functionalized indoles. This new catalytic process represents the first example of a cascade intramolecular nucleophilic cyclization by the N-H insertion of amines. Various naphthylamines and α-diazocarbonyl compounds could be obtained in high yields with excellent functional group tolerance.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the genus in the Ganodermataceae family, highlighting its significance for medicinal purposes and noting the absence of sequenced mitogenomes from dikaryon strains until now.
  • Four new mitogenomes were assembled for analysis, revealing a high nucleotide similarity of 82.93-92.02% with reference mitogenomes, along with 15 core protein-coding genes identified for phylogenetic studies.
  • The research identified genes 9 and 4L as reliable markers for constructing DNA barcodes, demonstrating their potential to distinguish species effectively and reflecting evolutionary divergence in related clades.

The aim of the study was to systematically evaluate the main factors associated with lung cancer incidence in China and provide reference for developing successful lung cancer interventions and accelerating progress against cancer. All publications related to the influencing factors of lung cancer incidence were retrieved from four databases from their date of inception through September 2022. Eight Medical Subject Headings and corresponding keywords were utilized to identify eligible trials in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, Chinese Scientific Journals Database (VIP), and China Biology Medicine Database (CBM).

The epigenetic reader SntB was identified as an important transcriptional regulator of growth, development, and secondary metabolite synthesis in . However, the underlying molecular mechanism is still unclear. In this study, by gene deletion and complementation, we found SntB is essential for mycelia growth, conidial production, sclerotia formation, aflatoxin synthesis, and host colonization.

Taste, a pivotal sense modality, plays a fundamental role in discerning flavors and evaluating the potential harm of food, thereby contributing to human survival, physical and mental health. Patients with tongue cancer may experience a loss of taste following extensive surgical resection with flap reconstruction. Here, we designed a gustatory interface that enables the non-invasive detection of tongue electrical activities for a comprehensive operative assessment.

Background: Short-form video applications have spread rapidly and gained popularity among adolescents for their interactivity, sociality, and personalization. However, excessive and uncontrolled use has also caused some adolescents to develop short-form video addiction (SFVA). Although parental phubbing has been shown to be a risk factor for SFVA in adolescents, its intermediate mechanisms, particularly the emotional mediation mechanisms, remain unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • The study developed an MRI evaluation system for managing synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ-SC), focusing on various factors like bone erosion and loose body size.
  • Patients underwent different treatments, with 34 having arthroscopy and 161 opting for open surgery, yielding positive outcomes.
  • After an average follow-up of 75.1 months, there was significant improvement in joint function, pain levels, and only two cases of tumor recurrence were noted.

Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA) is a commonly encountered degenerative joint disease in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Recent studies have shown that the excessive unbalanced activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling is connected with the pathogenesis of TMJOA and due to the inability to inhibit the over-activated Wnt pathway, while Wnt16-deficient mice has a more severe Knee OA. However, the efficacy of direct intra-TMJ injection of Wnt16 for the relief of TMJOA is still not directly confirmed.

Water permeability of reinforced concrete is essential for transportation of ingress ions inside concrete structures. The coupling effect of permeability and loading presents a challenge for the experimental simulation of water-permeate reinforced concrete subjected to tension. This renders the development of the model based on dimensionless analysis, using a series of experimental tests from an innovative experimental system that allows simultaneous measurement of permeability and crack width.
