A rare mode of extensor mechanism failure in total knee arthroplasty.

We reported a rare mode of extensor mechanism failure in total knee arthroplasty. The patellar tendon was elongated and thin instead of disruption at the bone-tendon junction. We also described the surgical technique for reconstruction of patellar tendon.
