Our previous study found that miR-145 was downregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissues and that it could inhibit the cell proliferation in transfected NSCLC cells. In this study, we found that miR-145 was downregulated in NSCLC plasma samples compared to healthy controls. A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis indicated that plasma miR-145 expression was correlated with NSCLC in patient samples.

All adult patients who had right heart catheterization for lung transplant assessment for severe CLD in the only lung transplant service and for PAH management in the only tertiary pulmonary hypertension service in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2020 were included and classified into CLD group and PAH group. Patient characteristics and hemodynamic parameters were analyzed.

Two ladies with history of carcinoma of tongue presenting with un-resolving pneumonia were ultimately diagnosed to have lipoid pneumonia, and both were subsequently found to be associated with the practice of oil pulling which is a popular complementary therapy. Apart from cessation of oil pulling, they were treated with repeated therapeutic lobar broncho-alveolar lavage. despite the potential benefits of oil pulling on oral health, people especially those at risk of aspiration, should be properly informed of this potential risk when considering this form of complementary therapy.

We develop a set of tools to identify genome-wide DNA methylation in distal regions with causal effect on tumorigenesis called MICMIC. Many predictions are directly validated by dCas9-based epigenetic editing to support the accuracy and efficiency of our tool.

Methods: Consecutive TB patients from 2006 to 2010 in a territory-wide treatment programme offering 9-month extended treatment for TB patients with DM were examined and followed up prospectively to assess their treatment response. Successful treatment completers were tracked through the TB registry and death registry for relapse, death or till 31 December 2014, whichever was the earliest.
Posttranslational modifications (PTMs) play a crucial role in a wide range of biological processes. Lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is a newly discovered histone PTM that is enriched at active gene promoters and potential enhancers in mammalian cell genomes. However, the cellular enzymes that regulate the addition and removal of Kcr are unknown, which has hindered further investigation of its cellular functions.

A retrospective study was undertaken of all patients who had undergone lung transplantation and their outcomes analysed.
Methods: Data were collected from hospital and outpatient records.
Two cases of a rare and uncommonly described form of Aspergillus lung disease were diagnosed from incidental CXR abnormalities. This strange presentation has been described in the literature as 'tumour-like blocked pulmonary cavities with liquid content infected by aspergilli'. The details of these two cases are reported together with a discussion of the diagnostic features of the disease and its position in the spectrum of pulmonary diseases caused by Aspergillus.

Tuberculosis infection has been a relatively rare complication after lung transplantation. However, as more countries in which Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection remains endemic embark on lung transplant programs, the occurrence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis after transplantation is a genuine threat. We report the first case of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in a double-lung transplant recipient who probably acquired the disease from the donor.

The use of prophylactic antifungal therapy, the persistent colonization with Paecilomyces, and sternal instability after clamshell incision may have contributed to the development of delayed deep sternal wound infection. Besides antifungal therapy, vigorous surgical debridement is vital for treatment success.
