A juxtaglomerular cell tumor (JGCT), or a reninoma, is a rare renal tumor that can cause secondary hypertension. This is the first reported JGCT that was resected through robotic surgery. We present a case of a 27-year-old female patient with 1.

To protect women and eliminate vertical transmission, WHO recommends offering oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) based on tenofovir to HIV-negative pregnant and post-partum women with a substantial risk of HIV acquisition. PrEP implementation for pregnant and post-partum women lags behind implementation for other high-risk populations.

As one of the six consortia funded through the NIH Fogarty International Center, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Johns Hopkins University, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Tulane University (UJMT) Fogarty Global Health Fellows Program provides postdoctoral trainees and doctoral students support and training for yearlong research attachments at selected low- and middle-income countries. To understand the current impact of this global health research training opportunity, the UJMT consortium conducted a crowdsourcing contest to gather creative messages to promote and improve the impact of the program in partnership with Social Entrepreneurship to Spur Health. Between January and March 2019, the contest received a total of 47 submissions from 14 countries; 44 were found eligible.

The dynamic adaptable networks can overcome three-dimensional (3D) physical restrictions to enable normal cellular functions without hydrogel degradation. However, because of the dynamic reversibility, adaptable hydrogels typically exhibit weak mechanical properties and rapid erosion behaviors.

A 51-year-old man presented with pain in the region of his left patellar tendon and fibular head. He had previously undergone three L5 epidural steroid injections and physical therapy without relief. Prior magnetic resonance imaging was significant only for fat pad impingement, and electromyography and nerve conduction studies were negative.

A core-shell Fe-MOF@ZIF-8 was synthesized, with ZIF-8 as the shell (the first lock) to encapsulate catalase (CAT), and the Fe metal-organic framework (MOF) as the core (the second lock) to encapsulate the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). Fe-MOF@ZIF-8 takes advantage of the TME-which includes a high concentration of HO, a weakly acidic environment and hypoxia-to achieve efficient cancer therapy.

However, the relationship between AMPK α1 and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is not fully understood. In this study, we aim to explore the role and mechanism of AMPK α1 in NSCLC initiation and progression.

Objective: To summarize the active changes of Wnt signaling pathway in osteoarthritis (OA) as well as the influence and mechanism of dual-targeted regulation on cartilage and subchondral bone and the role of crosstalk between them on OA process.
Methods: The relevant literature concerning the articular cartilage, subchondral bone, and crosstalk between them in OA and non-OA states by Wnt signaling pathway and experimental studies and clinical studies in recent years was reviewed, and the mechanism was analyzed and summarized.
Results: Wnt signaling can regulate the differentiation and function of chondrocytes and osteoblasts through the classic β-catenin-dependent or non-classical β-catenin-independent Wnt signaling pathway and its cross-linking with other signaling pathways, thereby affecting the cartilage and bone metabolism.
Physicians have long been calling for an inherent antimicrobial wound dressing, which will be a great progress for treating complicated infections. Here, we report a novel bioadhesive hydrogel with inherent antibacterial properties prepared by mixing modified hyaluronic acid (HA) and ε-polylysine (EPL). This hydrogel can effectively kill Gram (+) and (-) bacteria for its high positive charge density on the surface.

Materials And Methods: The concentrations of sex hormones, including testosterone (total, free, and bioavailable), sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), were measured in 415 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer. Differences in serum hormone concentrations after receiving androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and after withdrawal from ADT were evaluated.
We investigated the relationship between positive surgical margin (PSM)-related factors and biochemical recurrence (BCR) and the ability of intraoperative frozen sections to predict significant PSM in patients with prostate cancer. The study included 271 patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy with bilateral nerve sparing and maximal urethral preservation. Intraoperative frozen sections of the periurethra, dorsal vein, and bladder neck were analyzed.

However, the role of small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12) in regulating the phenotypes of VSMCs and AS remains largely unknown. Quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression levels of SNHG12 and miR-199a-5p in an in vivo AS model and VSMCs treated by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL).

As a result, incidence and risk factors of adverse birth outcomes are inadequately characterized. : The Zambian Preterm Birth Prevention Study (ZAPPS) is a prospective observational cohort established to investigate adverse birth outcomes at a referral hospital in urban Lusaka.

The rapidly evolving HIV prevention and treatment landscape since publication of this review may have important implications for maternal HIV incidence.
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis.

In this work, novel biomimetic hydrogel scaffolds were prepared by thiol-ene Michael addition between glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)-modified poly (γ-glutamic acid) (γ-PGA-GMA) and DL-1,4-Dithiothreitol (DTT) for cartilage tissue engineering. Sodium tetraborate decahydrate was added into the system to connect with DTT through hydrogen-bond interaction and served as catalyst for thiol-ene Michael addition to strengthen the intensity of the hydrogel.

Mass spectrometric characterization of protein glycosylation is well established with clear advantages and disadvantages; on one hand it is precise and information-rich, as well as being relative inexpensive in terms of the reagents and consumables despite the instrumentation cost and, depending on the method, can give site specific information; on the other hand it generally suffers from low throughput, restriction to largely purified samples and is less quantitative, especially for sialylated glycan species. Here, we describe a high throughput, site-specific, targeted mass spectrometric peptide mapping approach to quickly screen/rank candidate production cell lines and culture conditions that give favourable glycosylation profiles directly from conditioned culture media for an Fc-fusion protein.

We examine temporal patterns of fertility intentions in women with HIV to assess the extent to which fertility intentions - and the corresponding need for safer conception and judicious antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen selection - vary over time. 850 non-pregnant HIV-positive women aged 18-35 on or being initiated onto ART in Johannesburg, South Africa were enrolled into a prospective cohort study (2009-2010).

Introduction: HIV incidence is high during pregnancy and breastfeeding with HIV acquisition risk more than doubling during pregnancy and the postpartum period compared to when women are not pregnant. The World Health Organization recommends offering pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to pregnant and postpartum women at substantial risk of HIV infection. However, maternal PrEP national guidelines differ and most countries with high maternal HIV incidence are not offering PrEP.
