We report the construction of unsymmetrical dimeric carbazoles and π-extended bis carbazoles (having an aryl ring spacer) via the C-H functionalization route. Generally, oxidative coupling and traditional cross-coupling reactions have been used to construct bis- and π-extended carbazoles. Natural bis carbazole alkaloids and synthetic dimeric carbazoles are important molecules in medicinal, materials chemistry research.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to clarify the classification of two closely related bacterial species by analyzing genomic data from 26 type strains.
  • - Results revealed that the two species (Koerber 2005 and Tully 1982) are the same, with a 99.78% similarity in their 16S rRNA gene sequences and very high identity in whole-genome comparisons, indicating they belong to the same species.
  • - Phylogenomic analysis supported this conclusion, leading to the proposal to reclassify Koerber 2005 as a synonym of Tully 1982.

  • * There is a need for more research to identify new therapeutic targets, as current genetic and transcriptomic information on T-ALL is lacking.
  • * Long non-coding RNAs are being recognized as critical factors in cancer growth and could play a role in T-ALL by serving as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for better diagnosis and treatment.

Background: The term "Multiple Primary Malignant Neoplasms (MPMNs)" refers to two or more unrelated primary malignant neoplasms that originate from single or different organs and occur in one patient. MPMNs have been divided into synchronous and metachronous based on time duration after first malignancy.

Materials And Methods: This was a hospital-based retrospective study conducted at a tertiary cancer institute in Northeast India.

  • Leiomyomas are non-cancerous tumors of the uterine smooth muscle that can have various forms and are known to undergo secondary changes, sometimes resembling more serious conditions.
  • A rare type called cotyledonoid dissecting leiomyoma (CDL) can appear as large, abnormal masses, leading to misdiagnosis as cancer due to its size and complexity.
  • The article includes a case study of a 65-year-old woman with CDL, highlighting the need for awareness among healthcare professionals to prevent unnecessary aggressive treatments.

In recent years, Silicene has attracted great interest in various fields but does not fit well in the field of thermoelectrics due to the absence of electronic band gap. Nevertheless, hydrogenation of silicene (SiH) delocalize the free electrons and induces gap widening (2.19 eV), but its thermoelectric performance is still limited due to the larger band gap.

The cultivation of nearly 10,000 indigenous rice landraces in the North-Eastern Hill (NEH) region by various ethnic groups creates opportunities for the utilization of unique landraces through systematic evaluation of genetic variability. In the present study, a set of 102 rice landraces were assessed based on morphological and SSR markers, and five checks in augmented design vis-à-vis high-yielding rice genotypes with stable performance were identified. The presence of high estimates of heritability, genotypic coefficient of variation, and genetic advance over mean indicated the predominance of additive gene action, which necessitated the effectiveness of selection in augmenting productivity.

Background: The present study examined EEG microstate alterations and their neural generators during resting state in children with ADHD to explore a potential state biomarker.

Methods: A total of seventy-six participants, thirty-eight each, combined type ADHD, and neurotypical children (NC) participated in the study. Five-minute resting (eyes open) 128 channel eeg data were acquired and two-minute clean EEG data were analyzed for microstates, its sources and connectivity in both the groups.

CAR T cell therapy has revolutionized how we deliver cancer treatment, most notably for hematologic cancers, by compelling T cells to recognize and kill tumor cells. Nevertheless, current obstacles to utilizing this therapy in solid tumors and overcoming cancer resistance include radicalization. This review discusses how CD95 modulation can boost CAR T cell efficacy.

Background: Telomerase has been linked to aging and cancer. The MNS16A polymorphism in the hTERT gene plays a significant role in modulating telomerase activity and highlights the complexity of telomere-related genetics in cancer research.

Experimental Design: We genotyped 401 lung-cancer samples treated with platinum-based chemotherapy to identify the MNS16A polymorphism.

This article aims to discuss the literature on switching to an anticoagulant with a different mechanism of action in case of treatment failure. We present a patient with atrial fibrillation who incurred an embolic stroke despite adequate anticoagulation with apixaban and developed a new symptomatic ischemic stroke during the same admission after switching to rivaroxaban, a factor Xa inhibitor with a similar mechanism of action. He had no new events at 3-months after switching to dabigatran, a direct thrombin inhibitor.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a clonal plasma cell proliferative malignancy characterized by a debilitating bone disease. Osteolytic destruction, a hallmark of MM, is driven by increased osteoclast number and exacerbated bone resorption, primarily fueled by the excessive production of RANKL, the master regulator of osteoclast formation, within the tumor niche. We previously reported that osteocytes, the most abundant cells in the bone niche, promote tumor progression and support MM bone disease by overproducing RANKL.

Breast cancer, a leading cause of mortality among women, has been recognized as requiring improved diagnostic methods. Exosome proteins, found in small extracellular vesicles, have emerged as a promising solution, reflecting the state of their cell of origin and playing key roles in cancer progression. This review examines their potential in breast cancer diagnosis, discussing advanced isolation and characterization techniques such as ultracentrifugation and microfluidic-based approaches.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study shows that increasing the surface roughness of organic thin-film thermoelectrics can significantly enhance their performance, specifically the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT).
  • * A new method was developed to create nanorough PEDOT:Tos films, achieving a ZT of 0.99, which is 83% higher than smooth versions, and a prototype thermoelectric device using these films generated 118.7 nW at a 50 K temperature difference.

Article Synopsis
  • - RNA modification is essential for controlling post-transcriptional processes, with N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) being the most common type, involving 'writers', 'readers', and 'erasers' that manage its regulation and impact mRNA stability and translation.
  • - The discovery of 'erasers', or demethylases, showed that RNA modifications can be reversed, leading to increased research on m6A's role in various diseases, particularly cancers, where disruptions in these regulating components can upset cellular balance.
  • - Specifically, in acute leukemias—which are prevalent in children and significant in adults—research indicates that abnormal expression of the m6A regulatory complex contributes to disease progression, making
