Context.—: The diagnosis of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) relies on a limited set of stains, namely hematoxylin-eosin and periodic acid-Schiff-diastase (PAS-D), demonstrating abundant alveolar material representing mostly surfactant. As cells harboring surfactant also express Napsin-A (pneumocytes and macrophages), we hypothesized that it would also be expressed within alveoli in PAP.

Background: Results of conventional induction chemotherapies in primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) need to be improved. Ibrutinib, a BTK inhibitor, and lenalidomide, an immunomodulatory drug, have shown promising results at relapse, supporting to further assess their individual use in combination with high-dose methotrexate-based chemotherapy.

Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed PCNSL were randomized to receive four 28-day cycles of ibrutinib or lenalidomide in combination with R-MPV (rituximab, methotrexate, procarbazine, vincristine and prednisone) in a 3 + 3 design.

Nivolumab plus chemoradiotherapy in locally-advanced cervical cancer: the NICOL phase 1 trial.

Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with blockade of the PD-1 pathway may enhance immune-mediated tumor control through increased phagocytosis, cell death, and antigen presentation. The NiCOL phase 1 trial (NCT03298893) is designed to determine the safety/tolerance profile and the recommended phase-II dose of nivolumab with and following concurrent CRT in 16 women with locally advanced cervical cancer. Secondary endpoints include objective response rate (ORR), progression free survival (PFS), disease free survival, and immune correlates of response.

When narratives speak louder than numbers: the effects of narrative persuasion across the stages of behavioural change to reduce air pollution.

Is narrative persuasion effective when promoting new behaviours in favour of the environment? Does this effectiveness vary depending on whether individuals are already thinking about changing? This paper has two main objectives: (1) to explore how individuals at different stages of the behavioural change process perceive air pollution, focussing on the perceived psychological distance of its environmental risks (Study 1); and (2) to test whether the effects of presenting the risks of air pollution in a narrative vs. statistical format on pro-environmental intentions vary depending on the individuals' stage of behavioural change (Study 2). Study 1 ( = 263) is based on a survey measuring individuals' perceived psychological distance of the environmental risks of air pollution, and the perceived effectiveness of different pro-environmental behaviours.

Circulating Tumor DNA as a Prognostic Factor in Patients With Resectable Hepatic Metastases of Uveal Melanoma.

Ovarian Real-World International Consortium (ORWIC): A multicentre, real-world analysis of epithelial ovarian cancer treatment and outcomes.

Introduction: Much drug development and published analysis for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) focuses on early-line treatment. Full sequences of treatment from diagnosis to death and the impact of later lines of therapy are rarely studied. We describe the establishment of an international network of cancer centers configured to compare real-world treatment pathways in UK, Portugal, Germany, South Korea, France and Romania (the Ovarian Real-World International Consortium; ORWIC).

Non-linearity in lipase assays: A multicentric comparison on different analysers.

Objectives: Non-linearity in lipase assays and the ensuing gaps in results distribution have been described on Roche analysers, but have yet to be studied on other analysers.

Design And Methods: Eighteen lithium-heparinized plasma pools of lipase activities decreasing from 1700 to <4 U/L were prepared for multicentric evaluation on several analysers. Non-linearity was modelled as the difference between the polynomial regression of lipase activities depending on relative dilutions over the primary measuring range, and the linear regression of the same variables above the manufacturer's limit of linearity (MLL).

Efficacy of chemotherapy according to status in patients with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma at first platinum-sensitive relapse.

Objective: Chemotherapy for high-grade serous ovarian cancers in platinum-sensitive relapse includes carboplatin/paclitaxel, carboplatin/gemcitabine, and carboplatin/pegylated liposomal doxorubicin. According to data, mutated patients are sensitive to replicative stress agents but status is not yet used for the choice of chemotherapy at relapse. Our aim was to assess these doublets according to status in first platinum-sensitive relapse.

Notch-dependent cooperativity between myeloid lineages promotes Langerhans cell histiocytosis pathology.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a potentially fatal neoplasm characterized by the aberrant differentiation of mononuclear phagocytes, driven by mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway activation. LCH cells may trigger destructive pathology yet remain in a precarious state finely balanced between apoptosis and survival, supported by a unique inflammatory milieu. The interactions that maintain this state are not well known and may offer targets for intervention.

Consistent or inconsistent? The effects of inducing cognitive dissonance vs. cognitive consonance on the intention to engage in pro-environmental behaviors.

How do individuals rationalize the cognitive dissonance between their environmental awareness and the maintenance of environmentally unfriendly behaviors? The main goal is to explore the rationalization strategies used by individuals in order to maintain their current behaviors. The secondary goal is to understand if it is possible to induce cognitive consonance, and how this influences intention to change. We present a study ( = 222) with three experimental conditions: inconsistency, control, and consistency.

Efficacy and Safety of Ustekinumab in Patients With Active Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Results of a Phase II Open-label Extension Study.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of ustekinumab through 2 years in patients with active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: This was a placebo-controlled (week 24), phase II study in 102 patients with seropositive active SLE. Patients were randomized to ustekinumab (approximately 6 mg/kg single intravenous infusion, then subcutaneous [SC] injections of 90 mg every 8 weeks) or placebo, added to background therapy.

Patient-reported outcomes and complications during head and neck cancer radiotherapy before versus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purpose: This study compares patient-reported outcomes and treatment-related complications during radiotherapy before (August 2019-January 2020) versus during (March-Sept 2020) the COVID-19 pandemic.

Materials And Methods: The MD Anderson Symptom Inventory-head and neck module was used to assess curative intent in H&N cancer patients' symptoms during radiotherapy.

Results: There were 158 patients in the pre-pandemic cohort and 137 patients in the pandemic cohort.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the risk of acute and late radiation-induced toxicity in patients with COVID-19.

Material And Methods: All the patients irradiated in Institut Curie from March to July 2020 were included if the first symptoms related to COVID-19 occurred no more than two months before the start of radiation therapy (RT) or 15 days after the end of RT.

Results: Twenty-nine patients were included in this analysis.

[Myocardial injury in coronavirus disease 19 (Covid-19): main pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical utility of cardiac biomarkers].

Covid-19 is responsible for myocardial injury in many infected patients, which is associated with severe disease and critical illness. The mechanisms by which SARS-CoV-2 may cause myocardial damage involve direct effect of the virus in cardiac cells and indirect effect due to the clinical consequences of Covid-19. Cardiomyocytes are well known to express Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme-2 receptors (ACE-2) to facilitate the virus cell entry, which could explain the occurrence of myocarditis, functional alterations in the myocardium, and more rarely, myocardial infarction.

High prevalence of weak D type 42 in a large-scale RHD genotyping program in the province of Quebec (Canada).

Background: The determination of the RhD phenotype is crucial to avoid alloimmunization, especially in childbearing women. Following the 2015 recommendation from the Work Group on RHD Genotyping, a large-scale RHD genotyping program was implemented in the province of Quebec (Canada) and offered to women ≤45 years old with a serological weak D or discordant results. Since weak D type 42 was previously shown to be prevalent among French Canadians, genotyping for that variant was also performed.

Clinically important broadly reactive B cells evolve during multiple infections, with B cells re-activated after secondary infection differing from B cells activated after a primary infection. Here we studied CD27CD38 plasmablasts from patients with a primary or secondary dengue virus infection. Three transcriptionally and functionally distinct clusters were identified.

Novel signatures associated with systemic lupus erythematosus clinical response to IFN-α/-ω inhibition.

Objectives: We aimed to identify transcriptional gene signatures predictive of clinical response, for pharmacodynamic evaluation, and to provide mechanistic insight into JNJ-55920839, a human IgG1κ neutralizing mAb targeting IFN-α/IFN-ω, in participants with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: Blood samples were obtained from SLE participants at baseline and up to Day 130, who received six 10 mg/kg IV doses of JNJ-55920839/placebo every 2 weeks. Participants with mild-to-moderate SLE who achieved clinical responses using SLE Disease Activity Index 2000 Responder Index 4-point change were considered responders.
