Background: The Quality in Acute Stroke Care (QASC) Trial demonstrated that assistance to implement protocols to manage Fever, hyperglycaemia (Sugar) and Swallowing (FeSS) post-stroke reduced death and disability. In 2017, a 'Strong Recommendation' for use of FeSS Protocols was included in the Australian Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Management. We aimed to: i) compare adherence to FeSS Protocols pre- and post-guideline inclusion; ii) determine if adherence varied with prior participation in a treatment arm of a FeSS Intervention study, or receiving treatment in a stroke unit; and compare findings with our previous studies.

The prevalence of traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM) use is significant globally and within the United States, especially among Chinese Americans. However, there are misconceptions regarding the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines in comparison with conventional Western medications, and limited education, training, clinical application, and resources among pharmacists and pharmacy students. Pharmacists should be well equipped to holistically treat patients through required undergraduate education on the culture and foundation of T&CM along with interprofessional education experiences, a standardized and structured approach towards T&CM in the clinical practice setting, as well as systematic changes through advocacy among professional organizations and public health policies.

Immunotherapy has emerged as an attractive option for patients with relapsed or refractory high-risk neuroblastoma (HRNB). Neuroblastoma (NB), a sympathetic nervous system cancer arising from an embryonic neural crest cell, is heterogeneous clinically, with outcomes ranging from an isolated abdominal mass that spontaneously regresses to a widely metastatic disease with cure rates of about 50% despite intensive multimodal treatment. Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT) is a highly aggressive pediatric cancer caused by a reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 11 and 22, leading to the formation of the EWSR1::WT1 oncoprotein. DSRCT presents most commonly in the abdominal and pelvic peritoneum and remains refractory to current treatment regimens which include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. The carbohydrate ganglioside GD2/GD3 cancer vaccine adjuvanted by β-glucan stimulates anti-GD2 IgG1 antibodies that strongly correlate with improved progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) among patients with high-risk neuroblastoma. Natural Killer (NK) cells can recognize and kill -infected cells in vitro, however their role after natural human exposure has not been well-studied. To identify -responsive NK cell populations, we analyzed the peripheral blood of healthy household contacts of active Tuberculosis (TB) cases and source community donors in an endemic region of Port-au-Prince, Haiti by flow cytometry. We observed higher CD8α expression on NK cells in putative resistors (IGRA- contacts) with a progressive loss of these circulating cells during household-associated latent infection and disease.
