Search for Dark Photons in Rare Z Boson Decays with the ATLAS Detector.

A search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139  fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13  TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.

Combined Measurement of the Higgs Boson Mass from the H→γγ and H→ZZ^{*}→4ℓ Decay Channels with the ATLAS Detector Using sqrt[s]=7, 8, and 13 TeV pp Collision Data.

A measurement of the mass of the Higgs boson combining the H→ZZ^{*}→4ℓ and H→γγ decay channels is presented. The result is based on 140  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector during LHC run 2 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV combined with the run 1 ATLAS mass measurement, performed at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding a Higgs boson mass of 125.11±0.

Optimal treatment of infants with many renally cleared drugs must account for maturational differences in renal transporter (RT) activity. Pediatric physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models may incorporate RT activity, but this requires ontogeny profiles for RT activity in children, especially neonates, to predict drug disposition. Therefore, RT expression measurements from human kidney postmortem cortical tissue samples were normalized to represent a fraction of mature RT activity.

Arsenic, which can be divided into inorganic and organic arsenic, is a toxic metalloid that has been identified as a human carcinogen. A common source of arsenic exposure in seafood is arsenolipid, which is a complex structure of lipid-soluble organic arsenic compounds. At present, the known arsenolipid species mainly include arsenic-containing fatty acids (AsFAs), arsenic-containing hydrocarbons (AsHCs), arsenic glycophospholipids (AsPLs), and cationic trimethyl fatty alcohols (TMAsFOHs).

Defusing the legal and ethical minefield of epigenetic applications in the military, defense, and security context.

Epigenetic research has brought several important technological achievements, including identifying epigenetic clocks and signatures, and developing epigenetic editing. The potential military applications of such technologies we discuss are stratifying soldiers' health, exposure to trauma using epigenetic testing, information about biological clocks, confirming child soldiers' minor status using epigenetic clocks, and inducing epigenetic modifications in soldiers. These uses could become a reality.

The TriAGe + score for vertigo or dizziness: A validation study in a university hospital emergency department in Hong Kong.

Objective: Patients with dizziness commonly present to Emergency Departments (ED) and 6% of these patients will be diagnosed with acute stroke. The TriAGe+ score comprises of eight clinical parameters and stratifies patients into four risk groups. The Japanese authors reported that the tool performed well, so our aim was to validate this diagnostic tool in our ED in Hong Kong.

We report a case of a 55-year-old female with an asymptomatic pink-brown nodule. Histological examination demonstrated a composite haemangioendothelioma with positive synaptophysin staining.

Background: Family caregiver interventions are essential to support dementia caregiving. However, such interventions are typically complex and consist of multiple components. Existing evidence rarely delineates the effectiveness and interactions between individual components.

Evaluation of N95 respirators on fit rate, real-time leakage, and usability among Chinese healthcare workers: study protocol of a randomized crossover trial.

Background: N95 respirators are used to limit the transmission of respiratory viruses in clinical settings. There are two to three major types of N95 available for all healthcare workers in Hong Kong. However, after the coronavirus outbreak and the consequent shortage of many commonly used respirators, several new N95 respirators were adopted temporarily in clinical settings without evaluation.

Incidence of back pain from initial presentation to 3 years of follow-up in subjects with untreated adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Background: Although back pain may be present in subjects with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), its natural history is unknown. Therefore, this study evaluated the incidence of back pain in scoliotic adolescents longitudinally.

Methods: This retrospective analysis examined prospectively collected pain subscale data of the Scoliosis Research Society questionnaire between the initial presentation and up to 3 years of follow-up.

Case 319: Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome.

A 7-year-old Chinese girl presented to a local hospital with a 5-day history of progressive right-sided hemiplegia, expressive aphasia, mild bulbar palsy, and reduced general responsiveness. At presentation, her Glasgow Coma Scale was 11/15 (E4 V1M6). Notably, she had two strokelike episodes approximately 7 and 3 months prior to the current episode, with headache, reduced movement, and numbness in the left hand.

Treatment and outcomes in breast cancer patients: A cross section study from the EUSOMA breast centre network.

Introduction: The present study was designed to describe tumour features and treatments for patients with breast cancer. It also aimed at assessing the risk of distant metastases in relation to biological profiles, disease stages and treatment.

Methods: Data were analysed from 81,882 patients in the EUSOMA database (disease stages at diagnosis 0-IV; median age 61 years; range 20-100 years).

Observation of Single-Top-Quark Production in Association with a Photon Using the ATLAS Detector.

This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139  fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst)  fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36}  fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

Visible light-induced Pd catalysis has emerged as a promising subfield of photocatalysis. The hybrid nature of Pd radical species has enabled a wide array of radical-based transformations otherwise challenging or unknown via conventional Pd chemistry. In parallel to the ongoing pursuit of alternative, readily available radical precursors, notable discoveries have demonstrated that photoexcitation can alter not only oxidative addition but also other elementary steps.

The TMEM63 family proteins (A, B, and C), calcium-permeable channels in animals that are preferentially activated by hypo-osmolality, have been implicated in various physiological functions. Development of a bioengineered Erwinia chrysanthemi asparaginase to enhance its anti-solid tumor potential for treating gastric cancer.

Asparaginase has been traditionally applied for only treating acute lymphoblastic leukemia due to its ability to deplete asparagine. However, its ultimate anticancer potential for treating solid tumors has not yet been unleashed. In this study, we bioengineered Erwinia chrysanthemi asparaginase (ErWT), one of the US Food and Drug Administration-approved types of amino acid depleting enzymes, to achieve double amino acid depletions for treating a solid tumor.
