In response to the increasing global concern regarding water pollution, there is a growing demand for the development of novel adsorbents capable of effectively eliminating hazardous organic pollutants from effluents. In this study, we present a functional soy protein isolate (SPI)/sodium alginate (ALG)/polyethyleneimine (PEI) aerogel prepared via a facile chemical crosslinking process as a novel adsorbent with excellent capabilities for removing toxic methyl blue (MB) dye from effluents. Colloids often behave in a manner similar to their counterparts in molecular space and are used as model systems to understand molecular behavior. Here, we study like-charged colloidal attractions between a permanent dipole on an interfacial particle and its induced dipole on a water-immersed particle caused by diffuse layer polarization. We find that the scaling behavior of the measured dipole-induced dipole (D‒I) interaction via optical laser tweezers is in good agreement with that predicted from the molecular Debye interaction.

Herein, we represent a novel ecofriendly bilayer-amine group incorporated microcrystalline cellulose (MCC)/chitosan (CS) hydrogel, fabricated via integrating polydopamine (PDA) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) for reliable and effective extraction of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and nickel (Ni) ions from effluents.
