This article focuses on neuropathologic diagnostic criteria for chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and consensus research diagnostic criteria for traumatic encephalopathy syndrome (TES). CTE as a tauopathy has a unique pattern for diagnosis and differs from other neurodegenerative diseases.
