Background: One of the poorly studied sections of the pathology of ENT organs is chronic rhinitis in patients with hypothyroidism, the pathogenesis of which has not been fully understood, the diagnosis causes significant difficulties, and there are no recommendations for treatment. Despite receiving replacement therapy with levothyroxine, the symptoms of rhinitis persist.

Objective: To study the effectiveness of the use of intranasal glucocorticosteroids in patients with chronic rhinitis and hypothyroidism.

Background: The interrelationship of thyroid pathology and ENT organs is one of the least studied aspects of iodine deficiency diseases. Diseases of this localization are distinguished by a variety of their causes, high prevalence, a tendency to prolonged and chronic process, resistance to drug therapy and a negative effect on the quality of life of patients.

Aim: To study the state of ENT organs in hypothyroidism in the iodine-deficient region of Eastern Siberia (Irkutsk Region).

The studying of influence of natural factors on distribution of acute intestinal infections in the territory of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was organized and carried out for the first time. Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The country occupies the 8th place of population density making up to 1237,51 people per km2.

In the article there is given a hygienic assessment ofpolychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) contamination of soils of the city of Serpukhov of the Moscow region. For the first time there was investigated the PCB's ability to migrate in the system "soil-earthworms", and were calculated bioaccumulation factors at the different level of soil contamination. There was performed a comparative evaluation of the accumulation of given contaminants by higher terrestrial plants and representatives of soil paedobionts (Lumbricidae worms), and revealed clear differences in these processes.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of a furasol sore throat gargle solution for the treatment of acute tonsillopharyngitis. Forty patients presenting with acute tonsillopharyngitis were allocated to two groups, 20 subjects in each, by means of independent sequential randomization. Prior to the onset of the treatment, all the patients were examined for determining the species composition of pharyngeal microflora with the use of an «AutoScan4 System» analyzer («Siemens», USA) and estimating the resistance to antibacterial preparations (by the disk diffusion method).

The objective of the present study was to analyse the frequency and specific features of olfactory dysfunction associated with various diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses in pregnant women and patients with psychic disorders. Among the patients presenting with various forms of exterior nasal deformities, the olfactory thresholds were especially elevated in those suffering from rhinoscoliosis due to deflection of the nasal septum and disturbances of nasal breathing. Moreover, the elevation of olfactory thresholds was documented practically in all the patients with acute sinusitis and in 76.

Age related peculiarities of the microstructure of areas 8, 10 and subarea 32/10 in layer V of human frontal cerebral cortex were studied in left hemispheres of 103 individuals from birth to 20 years of age using histological methods and computer morphometry. Profile area of pyramidal neurons, radial fiber and fiber bundle thickness, and the distance between bundles were measured. During postnatal development of layer V in frontal cerebral cortex the following stages were distinguished: from a birth till 1 year, from 1-2 years till 5-6 years, from 6-7 till 9 years, from 9-10 years till 16-18 years.

Research consist in studing cyto-and fibroarchitectonics of the human cerebral cortex (8, 10, 32/10, 44 and 45 frontal areas). Informative parameters of ansemble postnatal features in cortical organizations for studying at cellular-population level is established. They have included dimensional parameters of neural groupings at layer III and a parity of specific neuronal and fibrous volumes.

Therapy for pulmonary tuberculosis in patients is complicated by their negative psychoemotional state frequently deteriorated by long inpatient stay. Enhancing the efficiency of rehabilitative measures in phthisiology requires active optimization of the patients' mental state. This problem can be solved by a package of correction measures involving psychological correction with reflex therapeutic normalization of the functional state of the cortical regions of the central nervous system in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.

Three strains of anaerobic thermophilic bacteria capable of growing on agarose as a source of energy and carbon were isolated from hot springs near Lake Baikal (Barguzin National Park) and the caldera Uzon (Kamchatka). Cells of all the three strains were spore bacilli with peritrichous flagellation. These isolates grew at a temperature of 55-60 degrees C and pH 6.

The basic sources of pyoseptic infection pathogens are infected and colonized neonatal infants in maternity hospitals. Microbiological monitoring revealed the specific features of biocenosis formation in the newborn in the "Mother and Baby" units, resuscitative departments (RD), intensive care units, and neonatal abnormality departments (NAD). Irrespective of the conditions of hospital stay, methicillin-resistant S.

Intensive chemotherapy for first detected pulmonary tuberculosis was initiated in 110 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Types 1 and 2 DM was present in 52 and 58 patients, respectively. In accordance with the WHO recommendations, isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and streptomycin or ethambutol were given to the patients at the first loading stage.

Based on the analysis of nucleotide sequences of 16S rRNA, oligonucleotide probes were designed for the detection and identification of representatives of the genus Desulfurococcus (kingdom Crenarchaeota of the domain Archaea). The detection procedure included obtaining of PCR products on DNA isolated from pure cultures, enrichments, or natural samples with a Crenarchaeota-specific primer pair designed: Cren 7F (5'-TTCCGGTTGATCCYGCCGGACC-3') and Cren 518R (5'-GCTGGTWTTACCGCGGCGGCTGA-3'). The PCR products were hybridized with Dig-11-dUTP-labeled oligonucleotide probes targeting the genus Desulfurococcus (Dco 198, 5'-CGTTAACYCCYGCCACACC-3) and its species D.

Based on the analysis of 16S rRNA nucleotide sequences, oligonucleotide probes were designed for the detection and identification of representatives of the genus Thermoanaerobacter. To increase the specificity level of detection, the genus Thermoanaerobacter was divided into three groups. The probe Tab 827 (5'-GCTTCCGCDYCCCACACCTA-3') detected all known representatives of the genus Thermoanaerobacter; the probe Tab_1 844 (5'-TTAACTACGGCACGRAATGCTTC-3') was specific for the first group of the species of the genus (T.

Comparing the clinical and X-ray characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis developed in 110 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (Group 1) and in 40 patients with type 2 (Group 2) revealed significant differences between these groups. An acuter onset and rapid progression, formation of extensive lesions with multiple, but small decay areas were typical for type 1 diabetes patients. Intensive chemotherapy for tuberculosis according to the standard WHO regimens is successfully tolerated by patients with different types of diabetes mellitus.

Photosynthetic and dark assimilation of carbon dioxide was studied in both perennially and temporarily ice-covered lakes of the antarctic oasis Bunger Hills. The intensity of these processes in the lakes studied varied from 0.08 to 326 mg C/(m3 day) and correlated with water mineralization.

A method was developed allowing detection of the ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBisCo)-encoding gene in natural samples. The method is based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in the presence of oligonucleotide primers complementary to the conserved fragments of the rbcL gene from oxy- and anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria and some chemoautotrophic bacteria. Use of this method made it possible to detect the rbcL gene in samples of natural water and sediments from Antarctic lakes of the Bunger Hills oasis and in samples of Antarctic ground.
