Search of MicroRNAs Regulating the Receptor Status of Breast Cancer In Silico and Experimental Confirmation of Their Expression in Tumors.

MicroRNA whose expression depends on the receptor status of breast cancer were selected using bioinformatic analysis. The expression of 9 microRNAs (16, 17, 21, 27, 125, 146, 155, 200a, and 221) was analyzed in 76 samples of breast cancer with various receptor phenotypes. The expression of microRNAs 155, 27, and 200a did not differ in various types of breast cancer.

Fluorescence Spectroscopy Application in the Express-evaluation of the Gastrointestinal Microflora.

Possible application is studied for fluorescence spectroscopy in the express-evaluation of the gastrointestinal microflora. This diagnostic approach is feasible because of the difference in fluorescent spectra from different microorganisms, with anaerobic microorganisms exhibiting the most pronounced fluorescence. It was found that fluorescence strength raised with an increase in the bacteria Bacteroides and bifid bacteria, whereas it decreased with an increase in Escherichia coli.

Vasilii Ivanovich Shestov during the Great Patriotic War performed various tasks concerning the organization of medical support in the Leningrad naval base, consulted on an issue of production and use of hospital and medical transport ships, worked on the organization of medical support in Schliessburg and etc. Shestov performed a considerable amount of research and methodological works concerning the establishment of the discipline "Organisation of naval medical support". He is considered as one of the founders of the theory of naval medical evacuation support.

In the article about The First Naval Hospital, that became famous during the Great Patriotic War, the authors present the facts of the heroic work of the hospital and its staff under the hardest conditions of the Siege of Leningrad, in an atmosphere of constant shelling, its productive clinical and scientfic work during the war years (1941-1945). As a material for the preparation of this article were used documents of the Military-Medical Museum, factual information about the history of the hospital published in various sources.

As a result of emergency situations in places of basing of navy discrepancy of prospective sanitary losses to possibilities of forces and means of a health service of fleet that demands interaction with health services of other ministries and departments is probable. Criterion of need of interaction is the ratio of quantity struck and possibilities of a health service of navy.

[Expert assessment of commands of naval medical service, incorporated in Service for Disaster Medicine].

Expert assessment of possibilities of naval medical service for delivery of assistance in emergency situations in deployment areas is performed. It is noted that the main menaces are radiation, chemical accidents, and explosiveness of objects. Inconsistency between supposed losses and possibilities of naval medical service is probable in case of emergency.

[Peculiarities of surgical tactics in complicated traumatic diaphragmal hernia].

Results of 18 patients with traumatic diaphragmal hernia treatment were generalized. Most of them were hospitalized at a date later than 1 year after injury for the other diseases, at 4--diagnosis was established during the operation. Operated in conditions of partial or complete strangulated hernia 16 patients.

[Anemia in patients with resectable tumour of periampullar zone organs as a risk factor of postoperative complications occurrence and its complex correction].

Results of treatment of 39 patients, to whom pancreatoduodenal resection was performed for periampullar zone tumour, were analyzed. Anemia, revealed before the operation, had constituted the factor, which trustworthily increased the postoperative complications occurrence risk. Therapeutic course, using recombinant erythropoietins, was conducted for correction of anemia in 7 patients.

[Cholecystectomy by mini-laparotomy access. Retrospective analysis of the 10-year work].

Ten-year experience of operative treatment of cholelithic disease using mini-access cholecystectomy (MACH) in 920 patients was summarized. There were operated on 167 patients for an acute cholecystitis, chronic calculous cholecystitis--716, gall bladder polyposis--36, gall bladder cancer--1. In 48 patients the MACH was matched with choledochus drainage, in 9--choledocholithotomy was performed, in 1--choledochoduodenostomy.

Prospects for applying fluorescence spectroscopy to diagnose the hard tissues of a tooth.

This article deals with the autofluorescence spectra from the hard tissues of a tooth, both in norm and pathology. An investigation was made on 30 extracted human teeth. The measurements were made both for the intact hard tissues of a tooth, such as enamel, dentine, cementum, and root canal, and for the tissues pathologically affected by a caries (superficial, intermediate, and deep) and by a dental calculus.

[Possibilities of transcutaneous intervention under ultrasonographic control in comprehensive treatment of severe necrotizing pancreatitis].

In 46 patients with an destructive acute pancreatitis (AP) the invasive intervention under control of ultrasonography, in 38 of them--in stage of purulent complications, was performed. It had promoted stabilization of state in 39 (89.8%) patients, normalization of clinic--laboratory indexes, that had permitted to realize radical operative intervention with minimum risk in perspective.

[Primary multiple malignant tumors of the stomach and colon].

Experience of diagnosis and treatment of primarily-multiple gastric cancer, combined with malignant colonic tumors in 27 patients was summarized. One-stage combined radical treatment of the patients is the most effective one.

[Preoperative selective intra-arterial chemotherapy in gastric cancer].

Preoperative intraarterial chemotherapy was administered to 69 patients with gastric cancer. In 34 patients the tumor was localized in the antral portion, in 27 in the body of the stomach involving the proximal portion, and in 8 total involvement of the stomach was revealed. Left gastric artery was catheterized in 42 patients, right gastric-omental artery in 27.

[A preliminary assessment of the efficacy of anticancer measures in malignant stomach neoplasms].

Anticancer prophylactic and treatment measures are approved initially among small populations contingents and, hence, their results are not essentially effecting demographic values. Changes of the state of selected contingents are evaluated by means of lethality or survival values. On the example of gastric cancer patients survival, the authors determine the period of observation necessary for preliminary evaluation of the efficiency of anticancer measures.

[Liposomes in the combined treatment of patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis].

Liposome inhalation was included into intensive combined treatment of 78 patients with chronic bronchitis exacerbation and preasthma. As shown by investigations of respiration, central hemodynamics, lipid and protein metabolism, vitamin E concentration, chemiluminescence before, during and after treatment, liposomes promote elimination of obstruction in the airways, pO2 normalization, correction of impaired lipid and protein metabolism, an increase in vitamin E level in peripheral blood leading to antioxidant system recovery and inhibition of lipid peroxidation. The use of lipin reduces the time of treatment of bronchitis chronics 2-fold.

[Radioimmunologic analysis of trypsin and C-peptide tumor markers for evaluation of treatment efficiency in patients with pancreatic and Vater's ampulla cancer].

A radioimmunological analysis of the changes in concentration of tumour markers CA 19-9, REA, beta 2-microglobulin, trypsin and C-peptide was carried out in 53 patients with pancreatic cancer and in 14 patients with cancer of the major duodenal papilla before and 7-10 days after the treatment. A control group was comprised of 116 volunteers. The levels of the tumour markers decreased after the combined use of remote radiotherapy and pancreaticoduodenal resection (PDR).

[Endolymphatic polychemotherapy with local UHF hyperthermia in the surgical treatment of rectal neoplasms].

To reduce the risk of intraoperative metastases and increasing ablastic principles in radical surgical treatment of patients with cancer of the rectum the authors developed a scheme of preoperative treatment including endolymphatic polychemotherapy and UHF-hyperthermia. 5-fluorouracil and platidiam were used in the treatment of 30 patients with different histological types of adenocarcinomas of the rectum (grade III-IV). After treatment the viable epithelial component in the tumour was 26.

[The use of ceruloplasmin in combination with adjuvant polychemotherapy in stomach cancer].

Ceruloplasmin as a modulator was used for the first time in the clinical practice in 30 patients with gastric cancer in the course of postoperative intraabdominal adjuvant chemotherapy. It was established that ceruloplasmin was well tolerated by the patients and its use during polychemotherapy is accompanied by normalization of the levels of natural ceruloplasmin and iron in the blood serum that are usually reduced in patients with gastric cancer, reduces activation of lipid peroxidation and improves the course of postoperative period. Ceruloplasmin possesses a week immunomodulating action in polychemotherapy which is expressed in the increase of the percentage content of T-lymphocytes.
