[Left ventricular ruptures after the mitral valve replacement].

7 cases of left ventricular rupture after the mitral valve replacement, which occurred per 900 operations performed in our clinic, were analyzed. A successful closure of the defect has been managed in 2 cases. In all cases the external closure with liners and patch plasty was used.

[Vaginal microbiocenosis in trichomoniasis].

Taxonomic complex of vaginal microflora and its persistence characteristics in trichomoniasis and microecological disturbances were studied. Diminution of biotope colonization resistance was characterized by decreased autochthonous microorganisms' number and increased opportunistic microflora with expressed persistence. That could be of a great pathogenetic importance in the occurrence of reproductive tract inflammatory diseases of the bacterial etiology in addition of trichomoniasis in females.

[Injuries of the urinary bladder: tactics and results of treatment].

A retrospective analysis of 87 cases of isolated traumas and multitraumas of the urinary bladder treated in 1986-2002 covered 69 men and 18 women aged 21-79 years. Young and middle-aged patients (20-50 year olds) prevailed. Isolated traumas of the bladder were diagnosed in 52 patients (4 extra- and 48 intraperitoneal trauma), 35 patients had multitraumas (7 extra- and 28 intraperitoneal trauma).

[Role of the biological properties of vaginal lactobacilli in colonization process].

The biological properties of vaginal lactobacilli strains with different colonization capacity were studied. As revealed in this study, colonization depended on the characteristics of species, individual elements of intrageneric antagonism, adhesion, resistance to antibacterial factors and the capacity for producing lysozyme. These properties of lactobacilli ensured the possibility of their adaptation to the conditions of the environment, manifested by its bacterial contamination.

[Injuries of the urogenital system].

To analyse the results of treatment of isolated and concomitant urogenital injuries, a retrospective analysis was made of 608 case histories for patients treated in 1986-2000. Of them, 530 patients were males, 78 were females, the age ranged from 16 to 70 years, most of the patients were 20 to 50 (71.2%) years of age.

[Results of treatment of isolated and combined trauma of urogenital system].

Retrospective analysis of treatment results of 608 patients with trauma of organs of urogenital system (UGS) was carried out. Beating was the cause of trauma in 55% cases, fall from height--in 17%, transport trauma--in 14.3%, knife wound--in 4.

Comparative study of monoclonal immunoglobulin M and rheumatoid immunoglobulin M by differential scanning microcalorimetry.

Thermal denaturation of monoclonal immunoglobulin M (IgM) and rheumatoid immunoglobulin M (IgM-RF) and their Fab- and (Fc)5-fragments was studied by differential scanning microcalorimetry. The melting of IgM-RF started at a higher temperature than that of IgM and the maximum temperature of its main asymmetric peak of heat absorption was higher by 4 degrees C. At equal values of enthalpy, the thermal denaturation of IgM-RF and IgM consisted of four and five individual transitions, respectively, between pairs of states.

Preparation of cyclic 2',3'-monophosphates of oligoadenylates (A2'p)nA > p and A3'p(A2'p)n-1A > p.

The action of the guanylyl-preferring RNase from Bacillus intermedius (binase) on a mixture of oligoadenylates with randomly distributed 2'-5' and 3'-5' internucleotide bonds [(A2'/3'p)n] under conditions sufficient for complete hydrolysis of poly(A) results in a mixture containing a single circular oligoadenylate and two series of linear oligoadenylates ending in cyclic 2',3'-phosphate. Individual compounds formed upon digestion of (A2'/3'p)n with binase have been isolated. Their structure was determined on the basis of their chemical and enzymatic conversions and confirmed by 1H-, 13C- and 31P-NMR spectra.

[The surgical procedural problems in treating mitral restenosis].

The paper summaries the experience with 244 operations for mitral restenosis. The methods for surgical treatment of mitral restenosis: closed mitral recommissurotomy, valvuloplasty, and mitral valve prosthesis are comparatively analyzed. Indications and contraindications are defined for relapse.

[Rupture of the posterior wall of the left ventricle after mitral valve prosthesis].

Rupture of the posterior wall of the left ventricle after mitral valve prosthetics is a rare (0.6%) but a dangerous and death-threatening complication. Injury to the fibrous ring in the anatomically hazardous zone (at 4-5 o'clock of an imaginary clock-face) is the most frequent cause of the ruptures.

[The diagnosis of coronary failure in patients with aortic and mitral valve defects].

The incidence of angina pectoris was investigated and the treadmill test was carried out to assess the presence of myocardial ischemia and heart pump function in 238 patients suffering from mitral and aortal heart disease. Comparison with the coronarography readings has demonstrated that the diagnostic value of the painful syndrome in the health status and anamnesis does not exceed 24%. The appearance of an angina pectoris attack in combination with ischemic alterations on the ECG raised the diagnostic value up to 50%.

[Causes of mitral valve re-stenosis and the ways of its prevention].

The authors evaluated comparatively the results of surgical treatment of mitral stenosis in 203 patients after open mitral commissurotomy (OMC) (their personal experience) and the literature data concerning 168 patients who underwent closed mitral commissurotomy (CMC). The frequency of mitral stenosis recurrences with the use of both methods was determined. OMC was on a par with CMC in safety and exceeded it in efficacy.

[The efficacy of treating patients with intraocular hemorrhages with emoxypin].

Emoxipin, a home-made preparation approved by the Pharmacological Committee for clinical usage in 1986, is a retinal protector. Its usage is indicated for treatment of chorioretinitis, diabetic retinopathy, thrombosis of retinal vessels as well as to protects the retina from a damaging action of light of high intensity. [Current approach to the surgical treatment of recurrent mitral valve stenosis].

In the period of 1971-1989, 266 patients with mitral restenosis were operated on: 82 closed mitral recomissurotomies and 184 operations under artificial circulation were performed. Complicated mitral diseases were found in 94% of the patients operated on. The causes of the mitral restenosis are analysed, and the features of its surgical correction together with the short- and long-term results are discussed.

[Reoperations of the mitral valve after closed commissurotomy].

The authors report on 275 operations performed for the second time after closed commissurotomy. The intervention was undertaken for restenosis of the left venous ostium in 255 and iatrogenic mitral insufficiency in 20 patients. The peculiar features of the clinical picture and diagnosis of these two conditions are discussed in detail.

[Campimetry with color filters for the diagnosis of subclinical forms of central retinal sclerotic dystrophy].

For diagnosing subclinical forms of central sclerotic dystrophies of the retina the authors propose to use color campimetry with the help of standard color glasses or a device suggested by them. Chromatic campimetry used for examination of 75 patients with mono- or bilateral macular dystrophy allowed to reveal absolute central or paracentral scotomas in some persons with macular dystrophy not seen in achromatic campimetry. Only with the help of color campimetry central scotomas could be revealed in second, clinically healthy eyes with still high visual acuity in persons with monolateral macular dystrophies.

[Collalysine treatment of intraocular hemorrhages].

For treatment of 35 patients with intraocular hemorrhages (22 persons with hemophthalmos and 13 persons with hemorrhages into the retina) collalysin was injected subconjunctivally, 50 CU in a 0.3 ml of 0.5% novocaine solution.
