Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility of using real-time magnetic resonance (MR) fluoroscopic guidance to place a stent-graft mounted on a guide wire in a nonrigid aortic phantom.

Materials And Methods: Real-time fast low-angle shot and true fast imaging with steady-state precession MR imaging sequences were used for device tracking. A modified fiber-optic guide wire and catheter embedded with titanium oxide in predefined positions were used for navigation in a homemade silicone thoracic aortic phantom.

Purpose: To develop and validate a controlled patient-derived process for producing an in vitro, nonrigid model of aortic arch aneurysm.

Materials And Methods: A three-dimensional magnetic resonance (MR) angiogram derived from a patient with an aortic arch aneurysm was segmented by using a homemade software package, meshed and converted to Standard Tessellation Language (STL) file format. The authors transferred this format to a stereolithography machine to produce a replica of the entire aorta, including the arch aneurysm and supraaortic arteries, by pouring silicone rubber.

The endoluminal stent-graft represents an attractive and a less invasive technique for treatment of various diseases of the descending thoracic aorta. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Talent endovascular stent-graft for the treatment of various localized diseases of the descending thoracic aorta. Over a 3-year period, Talent thoracic endografts were placed in 40 patients with a high surgical risk, presenting a localized lesion of the descending thoracic aorta: degenerative aneurysm (n = 13), acute traumatic rupture (n = 11), acute Stanford type B aortic dissection (n = 6), false aneurysm (n = 7), and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (n = 3).
