This clinical study aimed to comprehensively evaluate differences in static and dynamic occlusions among occlusal appliances fabricated using optical tracking, conventional tracking, and average articulator values (AAVs), providing insights into their efficacy in clinical and research-based practices.

Materials And Methods: Twelve dentate participants aged over 25 years, with Angle Class I and II occlusal relationships, were enrolled.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 1,212 patients who underwent initial surveillance colonoscopy after CRC resection between 2015 and 2022. The patients were divided into the AR/LAR (n = 846) and RHC (n = 366) groups.

Background: We review and analyze research on the application of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models to lymph node metastasis (LNM) prediction in patients with T1 colorectal cancer (CRC). Predicting LNM before radical surgery is important in patients with T1 CRC. However, current surgical treatment guidelines are limited.

The association between obstructive sleep apnea and osteoporosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder with well-known metabolic consequences. The relationship between OSA and bone health, especially osteoporosis, remains poorly understood. Given that both OSA and osteoporosis are highly prevalent chronic conditions with significant public health implications, this study aims to investigate the association of OSA with bone health and osteoporosis.

Effective utilization of polypectomy in endoscopic salvage treatment of rectal neuroendocrine tumors: a retrospective cohort study.

Purpose: Current guidelines recommend endoscopic resection for rectal neuroendocrine tumors (RNETs) under 10 mm. Incomplete resections necessitate salvage procedures, highlighting the need for complete R0 resection. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of wide hot snare polypectomy (WHSP) compared to endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for the salvage treatment of small RNETs.

Separation and determination of tellurium(IV) and tellurium(VI) using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

A new method for speciation analysis of tellurium(IV) and Te(VI) using high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS) has been developed. Tellurium(IV) and Te(VI) were completely separated using a reversed-phase column with an L-cysteine eluent under an isocratic elution condition. The detection limits (3σ) of Te(IV) and Te(VI) monitored by HPLC-ICP-MS at m/z 125 were 1.

Prioritization of Vaccines for Introduction in the National Immunization Program in the Republic of Korea.

This study presents a framework for determining the prioritization of vaccine introduction in the National Immunization Program (NIP) of the Republic of Korea, with a focus on case examples assessed in 2021 and 2023. We describe the predefined criteria for evaluating the prioritization of vaccines in the NIP and the established process in the Republic of Korea. These criteria included disease characteristics, vaccine characteristics, rationality and efficiency of resource allocation, and the acceptance of immunization.

Electronic properties of single vacancy defect in boron nitride nanoribbons with edge perturbation.

Two-dimensional material hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), and its one-dimensional thin strips, boron nitride nanoribbons (BNNRs) are electrically insulating with high thermal stability, making them excellent thermal conductors suitable for high-temperature application. BNNRs are wide bandgap semiconductors with bandgaps ranging from 4 to 6 eV. This study investigates the electronic properties of BNNRs with single vacancy defects in armchair and zigzag configurations.

Epigenetics defines changes in cell function without involving alterations in DNA sequence. Neuroepigenetics bridges neuroscience and epigenetics by regulating gene expression in the nervous system and its impact on brain function. With the increase in research in recent years, it was observed that alterations in the gene expression did not always originate from changes in the genetic sequence, which has led to understanding the role of epigenetics in neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD).

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a sub-classification of breast carcinomas, which leads to poor survival outcomes for patients. TNBCs do not possess the hormone receptors that are frequently targeted as a therapeutic in other cancer subtypes and, therefore, chemotherapy remains the standard treatment for TNBC. Nuclear envelope proteins are frequently dysregulated in cancer cells, supporting their potential as novel cancer therapy targets.

Background: Peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICC) are widely used in patients with haematological malignancies owing to the requirement for prolonged intravenous therapy. However, the growing use of PICCs has resulted in a multitude of complications such as infections and thrombosis, leading to prolonged hospitalisation periods and increased morbidity. This study aimed to determine the incidence of and factors associated with PICC-related complications in patients with haematological malignancies.

Background: Hypertension guidelines recommend diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in patients with hypertension. The mandibular advancement device (MAD) is an oral appliance therapy for patients who decline or cannot tolerate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).

Objectives: We compared the relative effectiveness of MAD vs CPAP in reducing 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (BP).

Background: Multiple myeloma is the third most common hematologic malignancy in Malaysia. The introduction of novel agents over the past decades has improved patient outcome and survival substantially. CMV Infection Post Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in a Resource Limited Country.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is one of the common complications which can lead to significant morbidity and mortality in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). As the seroprevalence of CMV infection in Malaysia is high, this study aims to determine the prevalence of CMV infection in patients post HSCT and to evaluate the associated risk factors. Patients who underwent allogeneic HSCT in adult ward from 2008 to 2020 at a tertiary teaching hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were studied retrospectively.

SVR is associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), metabolic syndrome and arterial stiffness which are known risk factors for cognitive dysfunction. We aimed to investigate association between SVR and cognitive function in patients with T2DM.

Unveiling the profound advantages of total neoadjuvant therapy in rectal cancer: a trailblazing exploration.

The standard treatments for locally advanced rectal cancer typically involved neoadjuvant therapy with either short-course radiation or long-course chemoradiation, followed by radical surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy. While the advancement of surgical techniques and the adoption of multimodal therapy have greatly contributed to reducing local failure, there has been limited improvement in overall survival, primarily due to the stagnation in systemic failure. In response to this challenge, a new strategy known as total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) has emerged, involving the administration of both full-dose chemotherapy and radiation before surgery.
