High-entropy materials are poised to revolutionize materials science and industrial applications due to their design flexibility, peculiar performance, and broad applicability. In this study, we present a proof-of-concept high-entropy engineered nanocarbon (HENC) co-doped with five nonmetal elements (B, F, P, S, and N), synthesized via in situ polymerization modification of ZIF-8 followed by pyrolysis. The HENC exhibits outstanding performance as a nonmetal electrocatalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), with activity on par with benchmark Pt/C electrocatalysts and superior cyclic stability.

This study investigates the effects of soybean dietary fiber (SDF) and citrus dietary fiber (CDF) at supplemental levels of 0.5 %, 1 %, 2 %, and 4 % on the overall quality of fried oysters.

However, most researches have only collected two-dimensional fluorescence spectral data from fluorescent sensor array interacting with target analytes. In contrast, three-dimensional fluorescence spectra can provide richer information than two-dimensional fluorescence spectra.

However, it is still uncertain whether plasma HIF-1α can be a causal indicator for the relevant diseases. This study aimed to test the causality relationship between plasma HIF-1α and neurological diseases, including cerebrovascular diseases, migraines, and neurodegenerative diseases with a Mendelian randomization (MR) method.

Results: We conducted the meta‑transcriptomic sequencing of 155 pools of ticks encompassing 7 species of 3 genera collected from diverse geographical fauna of Ningxia Province, China.
Background: There is a known association between liver disease and retinopathy. However, the relationship between non-invasive fibrosis scores and retinal image changes remains unknown. The research sought to explore the link between Fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4) and Fibrosis-8 score (FIB-8) and retinal image changes.

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study on adult asthma patients infected with COVID-19, using real-world data obtained from the health officials in Hong Kong. Key inclusion criteria were infection with COVID-19 between March 16, 2022, and Oct 30, 2023, age ≥ 18 years, previous asthma diagnosis, and prescription history of an asthma medication.
Purpose: Postoperative deviation (PD) is a complicated and troublesome complication after polydactyly reconstruction. We aim to investigate the clinical efficacy of a novel revision surgery, reconstruction of the balance of bone and soft tissue, treating PD after radial polydactyly reconstruction in comparison with a previous surgical plan.
Methods: We reconstructed the balance of bone and soft tissue to correct PD and the asymmetrical appearance of the thumb.
Background And Purpose: The study aimed to create a radiomics model based on breast intra- and peri-tumoral regions in dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI to distinguish benign from malignant breast lesions of Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) 4.
Materials And Methods: A total of 516 patients from Hospital 1 were assigned to the training cohort. Then, 146 and 52 patients were enrolled from Hospital 2 and 3, respectively, as the internal and external test cohort.
Background: Gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is an extremely aggressive tumor of the biliary tract with a bleak prognosis, and the evidence supporting the benefit of available systemic therapy for advanced GBC is scarce. Herein, this study intended to investigate the real-world outcome of chemotherapy combined with programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitor for the management of unresectable or recurrent GBC.
Methods: From January 2018 to December 2023, consecutive patients who were treated with systematic treatment, including chemotherapy or the combination of chemotherapy plus PD-1 inhibitor, for unresectable or recurrent GBC were retrospectively identified.
In chronic disease epidemiology, the investigation of disease etiology has largely focused on an endpoint, while the course of chronic disease is understudied, representing a knowledge gap. Multi-state models can be used to describe the course of chronic disease, such as Markov models which assume that the future state depends only on the present state, and semi-Markov models which allow transition rates to depend on the duration in the current state. However, these models are unsuitable for chronic diseases that are largely non-memoryless.

Therefore, this research aimed to develop and validate a nomogram model for predicting the risk of arthritis using easily available indicators and to assess the model's predictive performance. Cross-sectional data were collected from 3660 participants in the 2021-2023 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 237 patients from the INSPIRE database who underwent successful recanalization at our center (October 2018-March 2022).
Ischemic stroke is a frequent cause of mortality and disability, and astrocyte reactivity is closely associated with injury outcomes. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), an endogenous regulator, has been shown to perform pleiotropic functions in central nervous system (CNS) disorders. However, studies on neurological diseases have paid little attention to the effects and detailed mechanisms of FGF21 in astrocytes.

Nevertheless, the specific mechanism of sepsis muscle atrophy remains unclear. Here we conducted a clinical retrospective analysis and observed the elevation of skeletal muscle index (ΔSMI) was an independent risk factor for 60-day mortality in septic patients.

Background: Open reduction, superior plate (SP) fixation, and autologous cancellous granular bone grafting (ACGBG) are common strategies for treating clavicular midshaft atrophic nonunion (CMAN). Uneven ionomer coverage in the cathode catalyst layer of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) impedes proton conduction and oxygen diffusion, particularly at low platinum loadings. Here, a functionalized polymer-scaffold is designed and constructed by using hydroxy-pyridine polybenzimidazole (PyOHPBI) with abundant hydrogen-bond sites, thereby proposing a hydrogen-bond synergistic strategy to address the challenges of optimizing ionomer distribution and enhancing the transport of protons and gas through the catalyst layer. By integrating molecular dynamics simulations, in situ and ex-situ characterization methods, the design achieves 144.

Modulating the macro/nanoarchitecture of evaporators to effectively harness diverse renewable energy sources is of paramount importance for optimizing the performance of solar-driven interfacial evaporation. Inspired by the geometric structure of a windmill, we designed an innovative solar evaporator that expertly harnesses both strong and weak convection. During the purification of heavy metal wastewater, the maximum evaporation rate can reach 4.
