Article Synopsis
  • Phthalate esters (PAEs), particularly DPhP, are environmental pollutants that mimic estrogen and disrupt the endocrine system.
  • This study found that DPhP activates the human estrogen receptor (ER), enhancing transcriptional activity and increasing expression of estrogen-responsive genes in treated cells.
  • Molecular docking suggests that DPhP binds more effectively to the agonist form of ER, confirming its role as an ER agonist that can interfere with normal endocrine functions.
