Aim: The aim of the present study was to define whether cardiac myosin contributes to energy conservation in the heart of hibernating mammals.
Methods: Thin cardiac strips were isolated from the left ventricles of active and hibernating grizzly bears; and subjected to loaded Mant-ATP chase assays, X-ray diffraction and proteomics.
Main Findings: Hibernating grizzly bears displayed an unusually high proportion of ATP-conserving super-relaxed cardiac myosin molecules that are likely due to altered levels of phosphorylation and rod region stability.
Conventional post-modification methods usually face the fundamental challenge of balancing the high content of functional groups and large surface area for porous organic polymers (POPs). The reason, presumably, stems from ineffective and insufficient swelling of the porous structure of POP materials, which is detrimental to mass transfer and modification of functional groups, especially with large-sized ones. It is important to note that significant differences exist in the porous structures of POP materials in a solvent-free state after thermal activation and solvent swelling state.

Methods: By a convenient sampling method, 206 elderly patients with coronary heart disease who underwent CABG for the first time in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from June 1, 2021, to April 4, 2023, were investigated by using a general information questionnaire, the Perceived Health Competence Scale and Revised Control Attitudes Scale, and the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia to investigate the level of perceived health competence, perceived control, and kinesiophobia.
Results: Perceived health competence, control attitudes, and kinesiophobia scores were 25.

This study presents synchronous multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS) measurements of the vertical distributions of summertime HCHO, CHOCHO and NO in four representative megacities within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH), Yangtze River Delta (YRD), Sichuan Basin (SB), and Pearl River Delta (PRD) regions of China. The vertical distributions of HCHO and CHOCHO tended to occur at higher altitudes compared to NO, influenced by both primary emissions near the ground and photochemical oxidation processes at elevated altitudes.

Utilizing data from the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI), Generalized Additive Models (GAM), and the GEOS-Chem chemical transport model, we observed a significant increase of NH VCDs in the YRD between 2014 and 2020. The spatial distribution analysis revealed higher NH concentrations in the northern part of the YRD region, primarily due to lower precipitation, alkaline soil, and intensive agricultural activities.

This study aimed to compare the perioperative outcomes and follow-up results of the robotic approach versus the sternotomy approach for left atrial myxoma (LAM) resection.
Method: We retrospectively analyzed the perioperative outcomes and follow-up results of 94 patients who underwent left atrial myxoma resection using either the sternotomy approach (n = 64) or the robotic approach (n = 30) at our center between January 2017 and April 2023.
Objective: To investigate the independent risk factors for postoperative prolonged ICU stay in patients with Stanford type A aortic dissection (TAAD) and assess the clinical outcomes of prolonged ICU stay.
Method: The clinical data of 100 patients with TAAD admitted to the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from December 2018 to September 2022 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups, based on the postoperative ICU stay (7 days as the threshold), regular ICU stay group (< 7 days) and prolonged ICU stay group (≥ 7 days).

Here we report a proteomics strategy based on the intrinsic property of the SEL1L-HRD1 ERAD complex to identify endogenous ERAD substrates both in vitro and in vivo. Following stringent filtering using a machine learning algorithm, over 100 high-confidence potential substrates are identified in human HEK293T and mouse brown adipose tissue, among which ~88% are cell type-specific.
