Article Synopsis
  • Recent research shows that miRNA, specifically miR-3196, is significant in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but its exact role was previously unclear.
  • miR-3196 is found to be downregulated in HCC tissues, with lower levels linked to larger tumor size and advanced TNM stages.
  • Increasing miR-3196 levels can suppress HCC cell growth and make them less resistant to chemotherapy, with the tumor suppressor p53 enhancing miR-3196 expression and influencing the negative regulation of FOXP4, contributing to reduced tumor growth and increased cell death.

Propofol, an intravenous anaesthetic agent, has been found to exhibit antitumour effects in various kinds of cancer cells. However, the potential roles and regulatory mechanisms of propofol in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remain unknown. Herein, we found that propofol inhibits OSCC cell growth and promotes cell apoptosis in a dose- and time-dependent manner.

The fucosyltransferase (FUT) family produces glycans, a fundamental event in several cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC). miR-125a-3p is a non-coding RNA that can reduce cell proliferation and migration in cancer. In this study, we explored the levels of miR-125a-3p and FUT expression in human CRC tissues and two human CRC cell lines by qPCR.

Background: Superparamagnetic iron oxide magnetic nanomaterials (SPIO) are tracers used for treatment of central nervous and cardiovascular system complications in animal models. The present study investigated survival and proliferation of SPIO-labeled bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) to determine their potential therapeutic value in liver repair.

Methods: Surface antigens of BMSCs were measured using flow cytometry.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Guoshu acupoint pressure therapy on acute mastitis during lactation.

Methods: Fifteen cases suffered from acute lactation mastitis were treated with Guoshu acupoint pressure therapy, that is, firstly with lifting and flicking reduction at "Taiji" and "Xuepen" point, whose intensity was varied from patient's physical fitness. Subsequently, the patients were treated with flame therapy induced by distillate spirit, once each day.
