The basal dislocations play a key role in the deformation of hexagonal Mg alloys. However, its core structure and mechanical behavior have thus far not yet been understood adequately, largely owing to the fact that the basal dislocation, often decorated with segregated solute atmosphere and dissociated into two partials, cannot be modeled accurately. Significant discrepancies exist between theoretically calculated and experimentally observed structures for these dissociated dislocations.

Engineering defects in crystalline electrocatalysts is an effective approach to tailor the electronic structure and number of active sites, which are essential for the intrinsic activity of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Unlike previously reported methods, we demonstrate a confinement effect using a mesoporous template for in situ fabrication of cationic W vacancies in as-prepared ordered mesoporous tungsten phosphide (WP) nanostructures by adjusting the nonstoichiometric ratio of the precursor elements. With a plenty of W vacancies and ordered mesoporosity, the as-prepared catalyst WP-Mesop exhibits better catalytic performance than the catalysts without mesopores and/or vacancies.

Modifying phonon thermal conductivity in nanomaterials is important not only for fundamental research but also for practical applications. However, the experiments on tailoring thermal conductivity in nanoscale, especially in two-dimensional materials, are rare due to technical challenges. In this work, we demonstrate the in situ thermal conduction measurement of MoS and find that its thermal conductivity can be continuously tuned to a required value from crystalline to amorphous limits.

We reported the basal-plane thermal conductivity in exfoliated bilayer hexagonal boron nitride h-BN that was measured using suspended prepatterned microstructures. The h-BN sample suitable for thermal measurements was fabricated by dry-transfer method, whose sample quality, due to less polymer residues on surfaces, is believed to be superior to that of PMMA-mediated samples. The measured room temperature thermal conductivity is around 484 Wm(-1)K(-1)(+141 Wm(-1)K(-1)/ -24 Wm(-1)K(-1)) which exceeds that in bulk h-BN, providing experimental observation of the thickness-dependent thermal conductivity in suspended few-layer h-BN.

Identification of effective prognostic biomarkers and targets are of crucial importance to the management of breast cancer. CCNB1 (also known as CyclinB1) belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family and is significantly overexpressed in various cancer types. In this study, we demonstrated that CCNB1 had significant predictive power in distant metastasis free survival, disease free survival, recurrence free survival and overall survival of ER+ breast cancer patients.
