A study of the potential for peak carbon dioxide emissions in metropolitan areas: the case of China.

As cities become increasingly interconnected in production and lifestyles, metropolitan areas have become the main areas for carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This article is the first to investigate the potential for peak CO2 emissions in China's metropolitan areas. Specifically, this study constructs logistic growth models using time series data of CO2 emissions from 1997 to 2017 for 26 metropolitan areas.

The impact of accountability on local officials' behavior in the pandemic prevention and control in China based on utility maximization.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic is a public health crisis and an inspection of national governance systems and crisis response capabilities of countries globally. China has adopted a tough accountability system for officials and has succeeded in containing the spread of the pandemic. This study aimed to assess the impact of accountability on local officials' behavior in the pandemic prevention and control based on the official promotion tournament theory and utility maximization analysis framework.

The effect of joint prevention and control plan on atmospheric pollution governance and residents' willingness to pay.

This study investigates the governance effect of China's joint prevention and control of atmospheric pollution (JPCAP) plan and residents' willingness to pay for clean air. First, this study delves into the JPCAP plan's atmospheric pollution governance effect using the difference-in-difference and spatial difference-in-difference models. The results showed that the atmospheric pollution in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) and surrounding cities have significant spatial autocorrelation characteristics.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the housing market at the epicenter of the outbreak in China.

Unlabelled: The outbreak of the COVID-19 in January 2020 has had a profound impact on the global economy, so it is important to study the impact of the pandemic on the housing market. To investigate the impact of the pandemic on the housing market and the response of the housing market, this paper first uses the hedonic price model to compile the second-hand housing price index in Wuhan and its neighboring capital cities and then uses the difference-in-difference (DID) model to conduct a comprehensive study on new commercial housing and second-hand housing market. In addition, this paper also uses the VAR model to explore the housing market's response to the epidemic situation.

Building a structured monitoring and evaluating system of postmarketing drug use in Shanghai.

In order to understand a drug's full profile in the post-marketing environment, information is needed regarding utilization patterns, beneficial effects, ADRs and economic value. China, the most populated country in the world, has the largest number of people who are taking medications. To begin to appreciate the impact of these medications, a multifunctional evaluation and surveillance system was developed, the Shanghai Drug Monitoring and Evaluative System (SDMES).
