Ulcerative colitis is a chronic disease with colonic mucosa injury. Nitazoxanide is an antiprotozoal drug in clinic. Nitazoxanide and its metabolite tizoxanide have been demonstrated to activate AMPK and inhibit inflammation, therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of nitazoxanide on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis and the underlying mechanism.

Using PEDOT as the conductive polymer, an innovative small-scale sensor for directly measuring salicylate ions in plants was developed, which avoided the complicated sample pretreatment of traditional analytical methods and realized the rapid detection of salicylic acid. The results demonstrate that this all-solid-state potentiometric salicylic acid sensor is easy to miniaturize, has a longer lifetime (≥1 month), is more robust, and can be directly used for the detection of salicylate ions in real samples without any additional pretreatment. The developed sensor has a good Nernst slope (63.

Article Synopsis
  • Periodontitis is a chronic disease caused by bacteria, leading to a reduced immune response known as endotoxin tolerance when the host is exposed to bacterial components like lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
  • In this study, researchers found that neutrophils exposed to supernatants from THP-1 cells treated with repeated doses of P. gingivalis LPS had reduced migration, higher reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and lower apoptosis (Caspase 3 activity) compared to those exposed to supernatants from single treatment THP-1 cells.
  • Additionally, a cytokine analysis revealed that tolerance in THP-1 cells resulted in decreased expression of several key cytokines, suggesting that these changes may
