- The study evaluated the Abbott RealTime SARS-CoV-2 assay to detect viral concentrations and found it could accurately identify concentrations as low as 26 copies/mL.
- During testing of 8,538 specimens, only 27% tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, with 17% of these showing low viral concentrations below 845 copies/mL.
- The accuracy of two other rapid test methods was assessed, indicating that GeneXpert had a higher detection rate at >100 copies/mL compared to the ARIES LDT, which had a much higher projected false-negative rate.
