The circadian clock plays multiple functions in the regulation of plant growth, development and response to various abiotic stress. Here, we showed that the core oscillator component late elongated hypocotyl (LHY) was involved in rice response to salt stress. The mutations of OsLHY gene led to reduced salt tolerance in rice.

High temperature (HT) can affect the accumulation of seed storage materials and cause adverse effects on the yield and quality of rice. DNA methylation plays an important role in plant growth and development. Here, we identified a new demethylase gene OsDML4 and discovered its function in cytosine demethylation to affect endosperm formation.

Article Synopsis
  • The B3 superfamily consists of large transcription factors in plants that influence growth and flowering, yet their role in ethylene-induced flowering in pineapple hasn't been previously studied.
  • Researchers identified 57 B3 genes in pineapples, classified them into five subfamilies, and found that most were located on 21 linkage groups with evidence of segmental duplication in their evolution.
  • Analysis showed that many B3 genes respond to hormones and stress, with 35 of them being up-regulated after ethylene treatment, suggesting their involvement in the flowering process.
