Diseases mediated by cytokine storms are often characterized by an overexuberant pace of pathogenesis accompanied by significant morbidity and mortality. Thus, near real-time (NRT) detections via a site-of-inflammation (SOI) sampling of proinflammatory cytokines are essential to ensure a timely and effective treatment of acute inflammations, which up to now, has not been fully possible. In this work, we proposed a novel NRT and SOI immunosensor using ZIF-8 signal amplification together with an off-on strategy.

This fundamental process is emulated in an electronic device by developing a novel artificial nociceptor with an ultrathin, nonstoichiometric gallium oxide (GaO)-silicon oxide heterostructure. A large-area 2D-GaO film is printed on a substrate through liquid metal printing to facilitate the production of conductive filaments.

Workup includes a careful history, physical examination focused on evaluation of pulses and wounds, lower extremity noninvasive vascular studies (eg, ankle-brachial indices, toe pressures), saphenous vein mapping, and imaging of the lower extremity arterial anatomy (eg, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, or subtraction angiography) if a revascularization intervention is planned.

Additionally, the study aimed to determine the correlation between muscle activation and kinematic parameters with knee OA symptoms. Participants with unilateral knee OA (n = 32) and healthy individuals (n = 32) completed the gait test.

Practice guidelines recommend bilateral placement in cases with urgent need for response such as catatonia. Because of significantly lower cognitive burden and efficacy (compared to bilateral), right unilateral placement (RUL) is preferred for major depression.

In this work, we demonstrate that introducing β-cyclodextrins (CD) as anion-receptors into Zn(OTf) aqueous electrolyte could significantly optimize the Zn anode SEI structure for achieving stable ZIB. Specifically, β-CD with macrocyclic structure holds appropriate cavity size and charge distribution to encase OTf anions at the Zn metal surface to form β-CD@OTf dominated inner Helmholtz structure.

As one of the factors affecting the treatment outcomes, drug tolerance in mycobacteriosis has not been paid due attention. Genome-wide association studies on 607 Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates with phenotypic drug susceptibility test data revealed that a K114N mutation on the rv2820c gene was highly enriched in capreomycin-resistant isolates (32/213, 15.02%).

A data-driven statistical method is used to mitigate the large uncorrelated background in central Pb-Pb collisions.

The ϒ(3S) meson is observed for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, with a significance above 5 standard deviations. The ratios of yields measured in Pb-Pb and pp collisions are reported for both the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons, as functions of transverse momentum and Pb-Pb collision centrality.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcetonitrile (AN) is a compelling electrolyte solvent for high-voltage and fast-charging batteries, but its reductive instability makes it incompatible with lithium metal anodes (LMAs). Herein, 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropyl ether (TTE) is used as the diluent to build an AN-based local high-concentration electrolyte (LHCE) to realize dense, dendrite-free, and stable LMAs. Such LHCE exhibits an exceptional electrochemical stability window close to 6 V (vs Li/Li), excellent wettability, and promising flame retardancy.

Methods: A retrospective review of major lower extremity (previously mentioned ankle) amputations (2018-2022) was performed at a safety-net tertiary care center.
Silk proteins, as natural macromolecules, have extensive applications in biomaterials and biomedicine. In the silkworm, the expression of silk protein genes is negatively associated with ecdysone during the molt stage, while it is positively correlated with juvenile hormone during the intermolt stage. In our previous study, overexpression of an isoform Z2 of Broad Complex (BmBrC-Z2), an ecdysone early response factor, significantly reduced the expression of silk protein genes.

This study focused on the behavior of aluminum and silicon during the carbochlorination process of low-grade bauxite. The impact of various process parameters on the chlorination efficiency was investigated, and the chlorination mechanism and kinetics of aluminum and silicon chlorination in bauxite were analyzed and discussed.

Galectin-3, a β-galactoside-binding lectin, has garnered attention as a potential biomarker and mediator of fibrosis and inflammation in cardiovascular diseases. This comprehensive review investigates the impact of galectin-3 on diastolic dysfunction.

To develop a selective delivery method for mRNA vaccine formulation, we reported here the synthesis of polymeric nanoparticles (PNPs) composed of a guanidine copolymer containing zwitterionic groups and a dendritic cell (DC)-targeted aryl-trimannoside ligand for encapsulation and selective delivery of an mRNA to dendritic cells.

Despite considerable research advances, the development of standard therapies, supportive care, and prognosis for the majority of AML and ALL patients remains poor and the development of new effective therapy is urgently needed. Here, it is reported that activation of thermogenic adipose tissues (TATs) by cold exposure or β3-adrenergic receptor agonists markedly alleviated the development and progression of AML and ALL in mouse leukemia models.

While it is well-established that the actin cytoskeleton can regulate auxin levels by affecting polar transport, its potential role in auxin biosynthesis has remained largely unexplored. Using LC-MS/MS-based methods combined with fluorescent auxin marker detection, we observed a significant increase in root auxin levels upon deletion of the actin bundling proteins AtFIM4 and AtFIM5.
